a slight air of arrogance but at the same time i wouldn't say she was as arrogant as serena.

Nope, i dont think so...Maria may look snobbish but she is just choosy with whom to be friends with...i understand that attitude because given her stature, she just cannot be friends with anyone...and she plays fantastic tennis too....

I don't know if she is arrogant or whether she has problems with her English.

I do know in any language she is boring and up herself.

No. She's quite cute and likeable, in fact. She's very girlie and it shows in her dress. She giggles a lot.  BUT when she plays her concentration is spot on, and she is tough as nails mentally. I think sometimes her strategy is not as on target, but it might just seem like that.
