  1. we have not heard the whole story or never will

nascar will be trying to settle this out of court they already suspended 2 of the persons in the lawsuit

  2. The way you posed this question will no doubt be insulting to some folks...but to answer it I think her case definitely has merit. The real question is whether 225 mil is necessary to "resolve"---no amount of money would, anyway. Why should someone have to put up with racial discrimination just for being in a "man's job"?

  3. I am white but somehow find the "just another black person" portion of your question offensive. But I will answer honestly. Yes she is just another person as far as I know. I don't know the facts of the case or her personally so I must say, Yes. to me she is just another person. Try a little humanity on and see how it fits. And don't bother with the trite justifications for your obviously racist attitude. Heard 'em all before. PS. Normally my response would have been much more harsh but I'm listening to some old folk rock so I'm in my "Give peace a chance" mode. How 'bout you post this question again tomorrow when I'm more likely to tell you what I really think of you?!

  4. Who knows.  I dont know any of the facts and thus couldnt comment on it.  Everyone should reserve judgement until more is known.

  5. No - i don't think she should receive 250 million from Nascar. I read the story and the examples cited were quotes from her co-workers - seems like most of them were joking around while on business trips, dinners, work, etc. It's not like she was getting harrassed and they were hanging black dolls in her locker or something, or Mike Helton or Brian France were personally harassing her. Or the drivers were calling her names and making racial jokes in her presence. If they feel they must, suspend a few people over it- not fire - because i think they were just jokes done in poor judgement and not really being racist - if they were truly racist - they would have done things bordering on hate crimes or at least had no qualms about the use of the N word. I just think she needed to grow a thicker skin - seeing as what line of work she is in - and if i had to give her anything, it would be nowhere near 250 million - at the most 250,000.

  6. I just don't believe ALL of her claims. I've been working in a garage(s) all my life. I remember boss's, many bosses, saying they would never hire a girl to work in the shop because it would bring on this exact situation and they were all right. Hot, ugly, fat, skinny, black, white, blue, Oriental, dog, fox, it doesn't matter. Somewhere somebody will be offended.

Snap-On Tools doesn't even have girls on there calenders anymore because a girl mechanic got offended and sued. This is TRUE!!!!!!!

  7. oh my god, she's a woman!!!???

    good one fluffy...

oh my god, fluffy's a cat!!!???

  8. NO!!!!!!!!!!

  9. OH MY GOD! SHE'S BLACK!!!???

  10. ya ant got 2 b so racist about

  11. Do you always insult whole groups of people when you ask a question?

There must be some merit to her complaint because 2 of her former coworkers were suspended today.

A jury will decide how much money it will take to not only compensate her but to also keep Nascar from allowing this kind of treatment to occur with anyone else.

  12. no she shouldn't

  13. You know I do not classify people by their color, yes there is a lot of people in the South who still think they need to sit at the back of  the bus...you know, that was so yesterday, there should be no racial issues with Nascar at all....People are people no matter race, or whatever.. its not pre civil war any longer..There was a issue with my dad's brother (RIP Uncle Joe) when I was living in Calif and I had to fly back to NC to when my Dad was killed in a auto accident, I did not realize that people were actually still living way way way back in the day..come on we are one people all living on the Universe as one...These racial slurs, and c**p has no business in Nascar. I actually spoke with my Uncle who is a Nascar official, he could not comment because all of them have been told ....its a shut mouth case.. do not say a word...He is happy he is retiring after Homestead as there is a lot of grouper and red snapper just waiting for him..  People are people no matter what race, color or crede..we all can get a long as ONE. Please..and give peace a chance... Nascar might just have to pay this..because of their own ignorance.

  14. Yea. #18's #1 fan is back. It was getting pretty boring without you here man.

Now back to the orginial question ~ 1st of all others are right. "just another black person" is pretty ofensive.

That being said. If she was soo insulted & disgusted then why didn't she quit? Why wait to be fired?

Another thing, she was a woman in a man's world. What did she expect? I worked for almost 4 years at a truck stop on third shift. There would be hours that I would be the only female in that place. Do you know how much sexual  harassment I had to put up with?

But I expected it. I know how to give as well as I recieve. And when the regulars learned that I was not intiminated it got better. I gained their respect & many would even ask for me when they came in & I wasn't there.

My point is that when you are a woman working in a mans world you have to have thickskin & you can't take their bullshit. You have to stand up & make them respect you. If you can't do it then you're in the wrong field.

EDIT: To the ones below I NEVER said she had to put up with the racial discrimination. I cannot comment on that as I am white & have never really been racially discriminated against. I did work with some muslims & one often made a few racially directed comments. Again though I can give as well as I can take. And everytime I would have a comeback that would shut him up. However I have not had to take that my entire life like others have. So I did not comment on the racial discrimination part of the lawsuit. Which I HAVE read & find some of it very hard to  believe.
