Question:

Do you think McCain chose Governor Palin on purpose?

Here is what I am truly asking. Do you think he chose her for the purpose that the Democrats would win the election or do you truly believe he chose her without any pressure from the Republicans?

The reason I pose the thought that he chose her so the Democrats would win the election is this--I truly believe elections are already decided before we even get to the polls.

You can say I'm crazy all you want, but if you do, back up calling me crazy with some facts.

Also, keep this in mind. We had four Presidents that were both assassinated and wanted to put the control of money back into the hands of Congress (which is what the constitution mandates).

The names of the Presidents are McKinley, Garfield, Lincoln, and JFK. I could be wrong about Garfield when it comes to the part of him wanting to put Congress back in control of our money, but I'm pretty sure I'm right.

  1. . . . First of all, Congress already controls the money.  They're the ones that get to decide what we do with our cash, not the President.  He can suggest something but not put it into effect without the okay from congress so you need to get that right first of all.

Secondly, the Republicans are not going to just throw an election.  I don't think McCain did this because "the Democrats are going to win anyway" and yes he probably got some pressure to pick Palin for various reasons but none to show up the Democrats.

If McCain and the rest of the Republicans really believe that Obama's going to win, then they didn't pick Palin solely on the bases that it would guarantee the Democrats a win.  Heck, they wouldn't pick anyone purposefully to help the Democrats because that would mean that Democratic views, which are vastly different from the Republicans, would be put into control and it would make it doubly hard on them.  However, if they believe that Democrats were going to win no matter what, then they picked Palin so when the next elections rolls around, people would remember that they asked a woman on the ballot, giving them major brownie points.

In short, I think he chose her on purpose but for nothing like your reasoning.

  2. Yep, they put all potential vice president candidate names in a hat.  Palin's must of been the name that they pulled out.

    Just Kidding.

I don't think either party would waste that much money unless they intended to win.

McCain probably chose Palin because she was the best candidate that would also take some fire from the Obama campaign.

  3. that's a bit too deep for me.  but i really do think that McCain felt that selecting her and creating excitement (as they call it) was the only way they could have a chance to win.  and that's probably true.

  4. I read where even the Republicans and his advisers are shaking their heads for this choice though of course they wouldn't say it in public. He chose her because he thinks independent women and Hillary's supporters would vote for a ticket with a woman in it. He clearly insulted and underestimated women. It's not a secret that he has been targetting that demography.

  5. Instead of asking for facts from us that would call you crazy, you need to provide facts to support your claim that the system is rigged.

  6. I owe him a thanks if that is the case.

  7. I would hope he chose her on purpose.

Could you imagine if he meant to chose someone else and was lusting over her and accidentally called out her name?

  8. Congress has always been in control of the money. And no where in the constitution does it say that the govt is supposed to provide health care and education.

McCain chose Palin because he wants to win. Yes, he is hoping she will help get some of the Hillary voters but she is also conservative enough to energize the conservative base. If she doesn't crack under the pressure, it will turn out to be a very good pick. His pick has already accomplished the first thing it was supposed to - no one is talking about the DNC and Obama's great speech.
