  1. mma is real fighting i dont belive in kung foo or whatever but im in muay thai i like it the best i think its the best spand up fighting there is right now for one on one combat but for the ground game bjj i think is the best but i much rather do muay thai

  2. I think it is easier to become proficient in Muay Thai or Sanda (Chinese Kick Boxing) than Kung Fu.  Fluency counts and it is easier to get fluent in MT or Sanda than many other styles.  Kung Fu is something you can study/practice long after the Muay Thai people have been to the store for their first walkers.

MT has great kicks, good punches and presents a great workout.  Sanda, same, both schools should have you in the ring from the first class on.

Many arts have beauty and advantages, but it all depends on what you are looking for in an art.  The traditional Chinese arts have much beauty in them, but a very steep learning curve. For me it wasn't so bad as I had a practical background in Krav Maga.  I will study Taiji until I die.

Wu style Taiji and theory have captivated me for years, it's kick blocks are just like combat SAMBO or Muay Thai, punching theory is the same. spine as an axle waist as a wheel, head light  It's the sheer beauty of the way it is put together that really fascinates me.  Some students never really see these aspects.  It depends on the quality of the Sifu and the student.  Push hands (part of Taiji) has helped me with Combat SAMBO grappling tremendously.  The joint locks come straight from Jiu Jitsu, and those locks can be traced back to chin na ("seize control", another part of Taiji).

Kung Fu offers many of the same things, as both are forms of wushu, you just have to be patient and these gifts will come to you.  I have seen both White Crane and Hung Gar practitioners extensively, what they do is truly remarkable.

Sometime ago Kung Fu (Henan , Buddhist) and Taiji (Wudan, Daoist) became mixed with health as well as self defense, and this is part of the beauty.  Osteomalacia is common among aging MT fighters, not among old CMA (Chinese Martial Arts) practitioners.

You want to be a UFC fighter, MT is great, you want to survive in combat, than a knee to the head and elbow to back of neck have to become a part of you, illegal in the UFC.  Slamming a man in the nuts and peeling his head back by his gum tissue and driving an elbow to his nose has to be second nature, driving a knee into his throat is just a part of it.  This is illegal in the UFC, but taught in combat arts (Krav Maga, Combat SAMBO).

Getting back to the question, if you want to practice a martial arts for a long time, do CMA, if you're a kid looking for a quick way to learn punching and kicking go to MT or Sanda.  If you're a kid who learns well and has a long term perspective, go with a CMA.

  3. Muay thai has some advantages over other traditional fighting styles.

These advantages lie mostly around the fact that, the techniques are simple, and can be learnt in a relatively short period of time, from then, you just improve on making them more and more effective (increasing the power behind them). Kung fu you have to be careful about which style u mean, some kung fu styles have stances, and choreographed movements etc. If your referring to the style that i believe is called san dou or something like that, it has the same advantages that muay thai has.

These arts are simpler as you do not worry so much about stances, and katas and stuff.

    Hope this helps.

  4. It all depends on the styles of Kung Fu that you are talking about. Mauy Thai and it's cousin styles are all about hard techniques like kicks, knees and such will some Kung Fu styles are like that but some are a blend of hard and soft.

Also what kind of advantages are you talking about, advantages in fighting, meditation, focus, what?

  5. all martial arts have small advantages over other ones

  6. every martial art has some advantages and some disadvantages over every other martial art. contrary to popular belief, there is no "ultimate martial art" that can beat up every other martial art.
