threw his match last night? I don't want to get yelled at for this question but I probably will. haha. I was at a party last night and a friend of mine came up with the idea that Nadal threw his match because he really didn't have a need to go past the semi's. His loss meant that he could take a longer break before the Olympics, and it's pretty obvious that Nadal could have came back and Djokovic.

  1. Absolutely not....why are some thinking that.  Nadal is just not better than Djokovic on hard courts unfortunately.

  2. No. That doesn't make sense at all.

Djokovic is 4-1 against Nadal on hardcourts. The only time Nadal beat Djokovic on hardcourts was Indian Wells last year where Djokovic was playing in his first Masters final. Djokovic hasn't dropped a set to Nadal on hardcourts since then.

He also beat Nadal rather easily at Indian Wells earlier this year. He knows how to beat Nadal on hardcourts.

Secondly, if Nadal is going to throw the match why not do it in the third set so he can walk off the court with at least a set in hand?

Thirdly, By longer break you are talking about a matter of 1 day. He lost in the semis. If he needed a longer break he would've gone out in the second round.

Lastly, why throw the match? Why not withdraw?

  3. No, I don't think so because he would want to win the tournament to get more points between him and Fed.  But, I don't think he had his entire heart into it  since he had already become number 1.

  4. Definately not, hes a fighter, one who never gives up and tries really hard for every point, not every player is best of the best at every match, so him losing that match doesnt really mean much, so im sure he never gave up.

  5. I don't think so he to much of a pro to ever give up and I'm not even a fan.  If he had won last night he would have become the world #1 so even mor reason not to give up.  I can se your point though because Rafa has come back sooo many times it un believable.

  6. no he didnt throw it away but i think maybe his motivation was a little less because he was guaranteed of the top spot.
