He feels that it is wrong, but needs the liberal votes that agreeing with abortion rights will give him?

BTW Abortion really does suck.

  1. Typically, liberal voters are more intelligent than conservative fundamentalist voters who usually are satisified with three or four word sound bytes, such as, "Because the Bible tells me so", or, "g**s are Evil", or "White is Right" or "Mission Accomplished".

  2. I think he was trying to figure out how he could possibly speak the truth about his opinion without pissing off the crowd too much. McCain went straight for the pandering.

If it were me, I would have said, "Life begins at the moment a fetus is capable of survival outside its mother's womb. Not that my stance on abortion should matter to you, because the government should have no stance on the issue, anyway."

  3. Just the opposite, actually. It is because he is radically pro-choice but doesn't want to alienate some of his more moderate voters.

  4. No. It is because he is pro-choice, but doesn't want to offend the bible thumpers he was addressing.

  5. Abortion may suck, but so does having an unwanted baby.

As for Obama...aren't all his answers pretty long-winded?

Abortion is a sensitive topic, and if he kept his response too short, people might think he lacks compassion.
