I'm thinking it speaks to too small a portion of the public, but maybe I'm wrong.

  1. It speaks to us ALL as Americans, only people it doesn't speak to are the racists who hate to see said dreams realized.

Obama is being judged on the content of his character, plenty of minorities have tried before but Obama stands heads above the rest as the most presidential and dynamic candidate of any race in years.

  2. No.  His opponents are attempting to portray him as someone who constantly plays the race card when that simply isn't the case.

  3. I'd say you are wrong.  Obama is NOT speaking to just blacks--he's speaking to all Americans. Even if the right wing doesn't want to listen.

This isn't about "black" or "white"--it's about America--ALL of America--taking a big step forward out of the dark parts of our past.

We are witnessing tonight something very, very rare--an even t without precedent not only in our history, but in the entire history of humanity.  There have been breakthrough moments for the excluded and disenfranchised in society before--in the US and in other countries

But not like this .  We are seeing a member of one group--blacks)--as the popular choice--not over a white male-but over a member of anothrr disadvantaged group--women. The privileged white males never even made the semi-finals, so to speak.

It's not about race--and that's NOT what Obama is talking about.  It's about making the words "We the People"  mean what they are supposed to mean--all the people. Black, white, male, female--it does not matter.

Only about 25% of America are white males, not stereotyped in some way. They are not America--they are one small part.  This is about the rest of America-the other 75%  This is our day. The white male had his day. Its time for him to move over.

PS--I speak as one in both worlds--as a person with a disability, I'm considered to be as much an "inferior" as any black, Hispanic, or woman--even though I'm also male and Caucasian.  I am one of the "Others" outside the pale.  Well, wake up and smell the coffee. We are not sitting in the back of any bus, not any more. Including the one that stops at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

  4. Thank goodness we have the republicans, who represents all races equally, in fact i don't even think they had a white candidate in years.

whites are soooo humble, brings tears to my eyes.

  5. Wow! A small portion -----like everyone who supports equality!? You, sir, are in the minority.

  6. MLK's speech was not solely directed at black people. It was a message og hope and change for all people.

  7. Yes i do think it will backfire.

  8. If it turns into a Martin (the womanizer and plagarizer) Luther King love fest he will turn off more bitter white people.

  9. That's the media pounding those clips not Obama..
