Obama dropped the ball and McCain was more than happy to pick it up.

This was a smart move for two reasons. In 012 this lady will be in line to run in her own right so hillary will be cut off at the pass on vote for me I a female.

no, hillary would have totally overshadowed obama in that partnership.

Why should he?  As a woman, I find McCain's selection of an unknown, unqualified woman to be insulting.  If McCain had actually selected a woman that merited the VP slot, maybe Obama might have had cause to second-guess his selection, but only maybe.  Frankly, McCain’s selection made my choice clear.  IMO, McCain went with political expediency rather than making the best selection in the interests of the country.
