He has David Diaz up next and he is planning to go up in weight to fight Hatton. Do you think he can win and be a 5-division champ?

  1. No. I like Pacquiao and I would hate to see him go up another weight class, because his fighting style is going to get him hurt at the higher divisions.

Juan Manuel Marquez, a super featherweight, rocked Manny Pacquiao at times in both of their meetings. Just think what a strong fighter at lightweight and/or junior welterweight would do to Pacquiao. Remember Pacquiao started his career at junior flyweight. The punching power that Pacquiao will feel at 135 and 140 will be different, than that of those punches he endured at super featherweight and divisions below. Pacquiao's style is susceptible to getting hit a lot, which would be a bad thing against the naturally bigger men. Also, remember this.... Pacquiao has been knocked out twice at the smaller weight classes. And speaking of natural, the guys that Pacman would be fighting are use to taking hits from men who are also natural 135-140 pounders, so Pacquiao, not being a being 135 pounder, may not even phase the guys at 135-140 with his power.

If Pacquiao was more of a boxer with better defense and not relying so much on his power to get through fights, then I would say he could successfully get a title on up to junior welterweight. Floyd Mayweather and Oscar De La Hoya are just a couple of recent examples of boxers who could get away with successfully moving up in weight, due to their boxing ability, not slugging ability.

  2. no pac-man will not be able to handle that power up there in the 140. hatton has the possibility of ko'ng pacman easy. A good technical boxer will KO pacman. wait for Omar chavez one of Julio's sons, he will kill pacman. Omar Chavez is coming up fast and he has koed all his opponents so far. Omar Chavez hits harder than his brother Julio Jr. and the best technical skills of the two.

  3. i'm sure pacman stands a great chance at beating diaz...but i don't know about hatton...hatton may just be too big and too powerful for pacman...

don't get me wrong...i love pacman...but hatton may just be too ambitious even for him...

  4. Maybe. If he can bring his punching power with him.

  5. he can beat david diaz, but i doubt he can jump to 140 considering he started fighting at flyweight.

  6. He's still young @ 29. And already, he's vying for Diaz's crown. The 5th division title isn't a far fetched ambition. It's all within his arm's reach really. All he has to do is win it.

  7. Pacquiao has what it takes

  8. He will beat Diaz but i would have to say he isnt no Ray Leonard or Tommy Hearns he wont be moving up many more divisions and still winning and thats coming from one of the biggest Pacquiao fans on the planet.

Woody as per usual thumbs up great answer. Good answer to Ericktravel spot on.

  9. Well let's see:

At 140 he would face Hatton, and I think that Manny would lose. At 140 ricky Hatton is a bull, Manny Pacquiao's power won't be enough against hatton, Moreover Pacquiao tends to leave himself open to hits and counters hits and if he ever did that with Hatton, chances are,he will get knocked out in the mid rounds.

At 135, I think Joel casamayor has what it takes to beat pacquaio, He is a crafty boxer with good knock out power, and he would basically do to Pacquiao what marquez almost did in their last fight, i doubt that Manny would be able to beat him.

At welter weight he would have no chance, he would face people like Cotto, Mayweather jr, margarito and de la hoya and considering his size i doubt he will even be able to make weight without losing some of his better abilities. He would not be able to match up with these guys.
