  1. not really.... you never hear anyone say "p*t*ng ama mo". even our cuss words have to be in the feminine gender.

i guess it depends on how an individual was raised. how many housewives living off their husband's earnings have been underappreciated for keeping the house in order? we've seen all these "supermoms" who try to do everything and leave the hardware portions of homemaking like car care, plumbing, electrics, and carpentry to the men of the house... and more often than not, mom's don't get credit for the trivial things they do. in some households, the mother is the spiritual head, the disciplinarian, and even the bread-winner all in one... of course they get all the credit for raising the family.

  2. it is matriarchal. the wives hold the money.

  3. To answer the question...YES...that's nothing new and I am married to a woman from the Philippines and the men thee like another person said I don't know what their deal is.The women from my observations over the years are way stronger and in fact my wife wanted to do the handling  of our bills and I did my own forever but I was like ok as long as everything goes out on time and all so thats what we do.Not to sound rude but most of the men there are kind of whimpy for lack of a better word. But the answer to your question is 100% YES.God Bless

  4. yes indeed

  5. high regard for women, the philippines always has been

  6. No, not somewhat, it really is for the longest time.

You can see it in all aspects of life & living, inside the home, even in matters of religion, now even politics.

  7. No.  Its a democracy.  People just don't use good judgment with their vote.  Instead they sell it to the highest bidder.  Would that be a capitalist democracy?  I don't know.

  8. I don't know.

I never even thought about it.

  9. Not somewhat, it is a matriarchal society with women (mothers) at the helm of each family and whose words are house rules in themselves. Sometimes, their decisions carry a heavy weight in what goes in and around the family and even beyond her own family at times.

A best example is the present president.  A woman ruling the country...very matriarchal indeed.

Filipino families place a high value on the women of the house.  They are the mediators, the "bridges" and likewise, the "uniters" or "mergers" between family members and between other families.

  10. Yes, going by what I observed for several years in the Philippines, I think women are the leaders and decision makers of their families. I don't know what happen the men.

  11. I don't think.   I know so.

And yet I must take exception for those who think of Filipinos as "whimpy".   There is no word in dictionary.com, by the way with this spelling.   There is, however, "wimpy".

"A timid or unadventurous person: "the impression that he is a colorless, indecisive wimp, and not a leader among men"

We only let the women enjoy the role because we know they need this, and we so love watching them strutting about, giving orders to the household.   But in any crisis,  it is the strength and the courage of us, the Filipino men, that shall save the day.

Those who have the opinion that Filipinos are "wimps" are "brain damaged", for lack of a better term.
