  1. I don't know about Hossa, because they probably can't afford him, but the rest of the team has been awesome and got them to the finals. Too bad for them the Red Wings made it, too. They are young, and this is a learning experience for them. It would be foolish to dismantle such a team. We'll probably see them here again next year, and things may well be different.

  2. theyll have alot of the same. except for Hossa

  3. Obviously a few moves will be made, both for cap reasons (Hossa) and to get a bigger veteran presence to complement their young guys.

Most of the key players on this teams are just entering the age where players hit their prime, and they already made it to the cup finals.  If this group is left together, the Pens could win a couple cups in the next five years.  There is no way this team should be blown up.

  4. I can see they might have problems signing guys, because they will want the big bucks.  But these players might also realize the chance they have with this team and be willing to take less to be a part of a winning team.  I think we will see what these players are made of soon.  There is talk that Malkin will bolt for the big bucks as soon as he gets a chance a free agency.  Pittsburgh will only "dismantle" if they have no other choice.  Now that they got to the Finals, they won't be getting their token first rounders anymore.

I'm not a Pens fan, but i think if they can't sign Hossa, it will be a HUGE loss.  Losing fan favorite Colby Armstrong and Erik Christensen is TOO much if the Cup wasn't there in return.  I didn't agree with this move when it was made because I didn't see Pittburgh with any chance to win the Cup this year, (I grossly underestimated the crappiness of the rest of the East).  It looks like the Cup is Detroit's so this trade might be a killer.  Hossa played great down the stretch and was a big reason for their success, but like i said when the trade was made... It's Cup or bust with a move like this.  Its one thing to mortgage some draft picks and prospects for a rental player... its another thing to get rid of two proven NHLers like Armstrong and Christensen.

  5. I think they will do their best to keep as much of the core together as possible. It will be tough. Maybe some contract restructuring happening. But a few will go . Hossa will be the first one out the door

  6. theyll have alot of the same guys.  signing hossa is probably out of the question because of caps issues in the future.  they have alot of young guys they need to resign first before getting laraque and ruutu back, but the main pieces will stay.  it even looks like dupuis might find a home for an entire season.

if pens management for some reason signs hossa or MA fleury to a huge deal, look for malkin to be a FA next offseason!

  7. they will try to keep the same guys, but I could bet that some GM will make offers to some restricted free agents (Fleury, Malone, Staal, ...)

  8. Can't imagine that they would trash a team that two years ago didn't even make the playoffs.  Cap issues might cause problems but then again Lemieux has a way of discussing that with the players that most GM/owners can't.  Here's hoping that most of it stays together.  I can only imagine what they would be like with a full year together.  Hossa, Dupuis and Gill have made a huge difference.  I hated losing Christensen and Armstrong but it's hard to argue the result.

  9. Dissembling time in Pittsburgh. Hossa will be the first gone- how can they keep all those big salaries?!

  10. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!... hossa keep the stars and most of role players win 2009 stanley cup

  11. No! There a young team with good players.

  12. Crosby is gonna fill in for Alan Faneca at left gaurd and help lead the Steelers to superbowl number 6.

  13. they'll keep the main guys, (Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Fleury). I think we'll keep most of the team. We did a good job this year and our guys need a little more experience - especially against the talented Red Wings team.
