  1. no it should not be a planet. all facts say this. this is well proved by scientists. but it is a pity that some text books still include Pluto as a planet. (giving wrong information to readers)

  2. No.  Its as small as a Moon of one of the Gaseous Giants that occupy that part of our Solar System.  Astronomers' now believe that Pluto may have been a Moon of Neptune that has been pulled out of an Orbit around Neptune into an orbit around the Sun by another yet undiscovered planet even more massive than Jupiter lurking beyond the outter parts of our wee Solar System

  3. i consider pluto to be a planetoid :) smaller than a normal planet but big enough not to be considered an asteroid :)

  4. The designation hardly matters.  The IAU has come up with new criteria to define "planet".  Back when Pluto was discovered, all we really could tell about it was that it was a point of light that moved, hence, was in our solar system.

The whole point of science is that as you learn new things you sometimes have to change what you think you knew.

So we know more now about our solar system.  We used to have 9 planets.  Now we have 8 planets and 3 dwarf planets, or plutoids.

    Good Stuff!  :-)

  5. No. It never was a  planet, about time it was demoted, but would prefer the name Mickey Mouse, or Goofy

  6. No it should not be a planet, it to me is in the Kiper Belt and it is not like the other planets they are not any were near the asteroid belt.

  7. Well why not?  Astronomy is first and foremost a science, and it would be confusing to have one object labeled a planet, while very similar neighboring objects are called something else.  But, pluto is what it is, and should retain its original name.  There is a precedent for this;  until the 1930s we only were aware of our own galaxy, and considered other objects like the Great Nebula in Andromeda to be just that.  It was only then that science became aware that these things were large systems like our own Milkyway galaxy, but at a very vast distance.  M31 is still called the Great Nebula in Andromeda, although we now know that it is actually a massive galaxy bigger then our own.

  8. no

it does not suit the new definition of planets
