Everyone thinks Prince William will marry Kate Middleton, but isn't it a tradition in the royal family that the princes must only marry women from a royal or aristocratic background, plus who are virgins?

If you dont have any nice answers, please dont bother answering.

  1. YES I DO!!

  2. Because  Prince William is  Heir to the British Throne, a future King of England, his bride perhaps has already been chosen.

And, because he wants to make his grandmother, The Queen

so very proud, he will marry someone   approved by her.

  3. Hopefully William won't feel as bound to that 'tradition' as previous members have been.  He should be able to choose who he wants then (& only then) will a royal marriage actually have a chance at lasting as a marriage instead of as a business arrangement.

  4. Well Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, was definitely not a virgin and a divorcee when she finally married Prince Charles, heir to the British throne. Traditionally and legally, the only requirement was that Prince Charles could not marry a Roman Catholic, a member of the Church of England was preferred. In order to gain the approval of his family and their advisers, any potential bride was expected to have a royal or aristocratic background, be a virgin, as well as be Protestant, and the late Diana, Princess of Wales met these qualifications. However, as time changed, so did these so called "requirements". However, one requirement remains still in place, which is the issue of religions. If Kate is a Catholic, she must convert to Protestant, or Prince William will loose its place as heir to the British throne.

I believe both The Queen and Prince Charles had already "approved" their future "Princess of Wales" to be. Prince William had already given Kate a set of keys to his official royal residence at Clarence House in London. So basically, they are official "living together" with Prince Charles and Camilla. Prince William had already stated that he does not plan to marry until he is at least 30 years old, and finished military training. Kate was being a bit "aggressive" when it came to trying to secure their future together, which resulted their break-up early spring of last year. Just because their back together, does not mean they will eventually tie the knot.

  5. Yes

  6. Yes

  7. You are confusing "royal," "aristocratic," and "noble."  It is not rude to suggest some foundational research before you post a question.  The internet is such a wonderful tool, please use it a little before expecting others to answer your inquiries.

    Thanks.

  8. Perhaps--but whoever Prince William chooses, it will be a love match rather than a marriage of convenience like his father made.

Here's why:  First of all, this question ("Isn't it a tradition in the royal family that the princes must marry woman . . . who are virgins") presumes a double standard if for no other reason than to make certain that any potential first child was a genetic heir to the throne.  Such a candidate could be more easily vetted by "the Firm" if she was from a royal or aristocratic background.  Both Camilla and Diana were from aristocratic English families, but were not royalty.  Similarly, the Queen Mother, Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyons, was from a Scottish aristocratic family.  Prince Charles supposedly didn't consider marrying Camilla Shand because she had too much of a sexual history that might potentially embarrass the British Royal Family.   Diana was young enough that it was assumed that she didn't have a past.

In other words, when Prince Charles was choosing a bride, a review of potential candidates for marriage was superficial at best, concentrating on blood lines and virginity and not considering more obvious traits like compatibility and an approximately similar age. As any marriage counselor will testify, Lady Diana Spencer and Prince Charles shared few common interests and were 12 years apart in age, making them a poor choice for suitable life-long companions in what was in retrospect an arranged marriage.

Kate and Will have lived together since their days at St. Andrews.  They share similar interests and were both born in 1982 (she in January and he in June).  The marriage of Prince Charles and Princess Diana was obviously a very steep learning experience for the Royals.

  9. & think they probably will marry.

Maybe she was a virgin before meeting him, who knows?

The only reason that it would be best for him to marry a virgin these days would be to stop kiss & tell stories in the tabloids causing embarrassment.

  10. Not if the Queen has anything to do with it she'd probably break Kate's legs herself before letting her walk down the isle to marry Prince William

  11. Well.  They might.  Or they might not.  He is doing armed forces training and she has quit her dead end job and has flitted off to be a photographer.  I think this is a time of personal growth for both of them.  We should have a better guess in about two years time.  Provided Kate doesn't meet anyone else in the meantime.

  12. Times have changed that is clear since the Queen  allowed Charles and Camellia to marry, and he is still going to be able to take the throne. Despite the fact she is a divorcee.

Will William marry Kate? Maybe we’ll see when it happens, for the past few years there have always been speculation of when they would get engaged. Even now people are speculating they will announce their engagement this fall, 7 years from the date that they meet.

In the end I hope he marries who he wants to, his own parents marriage is a good example of what happens when one does not marry for love, but marries someone who is deemed exactable for the royal family and people.

  13. No, he will one day be King. And I do not think that he will give that up! I do not think that he will marry her. They will just continue to be in a relationship with no strings attatched s*x. And to me nothing is wrong with that. He will never marry her and loose everything that he has. He will definitly become King one day!
