And what are your thoughts on Bruton Smith getting a cup date for the track? Inevitable? A long shot?

Personally, I think Ky would be a good track to have a cup race and I would love to go.

  1. I think they should get a cup date. They met all of Nascar's credentials for one and I think there is a big market in Kentucky that is getting left out. I would rather a track in the New York City area or Washington but Kentucky is deserving of a date.

  2. It would be a huge shot in the arm for Cincinnati's and Louisville's economies If indeed the Cup series rolls into town. They really both need it.

You've got the Cincinnati market, Louisville, Lexington, and even the Columbus market.  That's a risk I'd be more than willing to take. I bet NASCAR could really have a strong presence in those cities. Kentucky has no "Major League" franchises at all, so the Cup series would be a huge event. If the Cup series were to come there, they would "occupy" Southeastern Indiana, Southwest Ohio, and Northern Kentucky. That's a good region to have a track in.
