i want to think she can, but not sure in reality...

i am not talking about handicap game or funny court rule games, just regular best-of-3 sets.

  1. Doubtful...

  2. A very slight chance because even though she over powers women men would probably over power her or men in the top 100 know how to deal with power

  3. I'm unsure. Her serve, I must correct the person who suggested it's mediocrity against male players, frequently reaches speeds that a few men in the top 20 cannot serve at. Also her placement of the serve is second to none, meaning, though it's speed may perhaps not be as affective against male players as it is women, where she serves to would be an issue for many male players who would find it difficult to read the myriad of serves she can produce (kicker etc).

Also, her aura on court would be an issue for many men. She is extremely fast, muscular and vocal; many men would be scared of her, I know I wouldn't like a fired up Serena across the net from me.

I think she can deal with top 100 male players, but as the players near the top 40, she would perhaps struggle with not only the pace they hit, but their ability to absorb hers.

Lets not lie though, who knows; maybe she'll do an exhibition match against a top male player, then we will.

  4. duh she could beat him any day.

  5. Oh yes he could beat him easlily.

Till his legs and hands are fractured

  6. Sure she could. She even looks like a dude. Imagine meeting her in a dark alley. She'd kick your butt.

And yeah Rafa against Serena would be a good match up. He is as good looking as most girls on the tour today and just as muscular as Serena...well almost. So it should be a fair match up.

  7. no - I think she tried it before and got crushed like 6-1

No offense, but the mens' game is much faster and even Serena can't rlly handle that pace

  8. No way. She's a great womens' player, she's very athletic, but she would not stand a chance. The mens' game is a whole different ball-park. Her serve, although phenomenal on the womens' side, would be pretty mediocre by ATP standards... and that's one of her biggest weapons.  Same deal for the groundstrokes. Not only do the men hit harder, but they are also far more used to being on the receiving end of the power, so nothing Serena could throw at them is likely to give them any trouble.

When she played a mens' player, Karsten Braasch ten years ago, she was blown away. He was ranked # 200 at the time. The idea of her (or any female player, for that matter) being able to compete with the guys is flat out absurd.

  9. No not a chance, but she could be their practice partner. and earn about $100/ day spending money.

  10. CONSIDERING THIS POSSIBLE IS IGNORANT AND ABSURD

  11. I'd give her a pretty good chance against #4 also.

  12. She can even take on #50 or so.  She's a great player, and so is her sister Venus.  They can both take on the men.  Actually, a lot of the top ladies can now do that.  Unlike the female players of the past, these players use guys as their hitting partners.  They're used to having a guy hit hard balls to them so when it comes down to it, why not?  But I think only the Williamses have the fire power to stay with them, and the serve to match or surpass some of the men.

  13. without question she can. The girl is TOUGH as steel.

  14. No. I don't think it would even be close.

  15. yessss, she can

    go serena!!

ps: interesting match up: rafa vs. serena, don't you think??

    :)

  16. i doubt it.. but its possible...
