I have an 9 day vacation scheduled to begin in savannah/tybee island GA on Friday, which is the day Hurricane Hannah is "scheduled" to hit the SE coast (specifically forecast to hit Savannah area as a category 2)..

Do you think my vacation will be canceled?

  1. sorry we are scheduled to evacuate friday

  2. It probably will be evacuated/canceled. I'm sorry, that sucks.

  3. We are in the same situation. We are supposed to leave early Thursday morning and be in Savannah Friday, Saturday, and head back on Sunday. We are dropping my sister off at Savannah College of Art and Design. But now, all of our plans and thoughts are running wild. This is a disaster. I have been reading the local news for the area and they were saying that they could be evacuating as early as Thursday, and Wednesday for the special needs. They also said that Interstate 16 could be possibly turned into a one way evacuation route. Most people will either go into mainland South Carolina or Macon, Ga. I have no idea what we are going to to yet. Tybee Island is beautiful. It is however, right on the ocean. The news also said that all barrier islands would be evacuated regardless of the intensity/category of the storm. At this point we do not know what to do. As of right now Hanna is just now made a westward turn and is probably about to head the projected northwest course. We are planning on watching the news and then making a decision by tomorrow evening.

  4. Your vacation will be fine. It's not going to hit Savannah directly. It's going to be raining and windy on Friday but Saturday its going to be sunny and 92 degrees. Go ahead with the vacation.

  5. I watched a forecast about an hour ago and they said a cat 3 possibly 4 so Savannah would be evacuated if they determine it is for sure going to strike in that area..

  6. I wouldn't count on being able to go, especially to someplace on the coast like Tybee Island.  But keep an eye out, you never know when a hurricane will make a sudden turn.
