It varies with each episode. I think the problem is that the writers use a really bad word choice that leads to an innuendo that you only notice if you listen for it.

I don't know if you know this, but SpongeBob is intended for children. He's a fun-loving sponge who is meant for children to watch. He's just a happy guy, having odd underwater adventures. So, he's neither.

I'd say he's not g*y but he is fruity because the way he act is really funny and I'm a fan  of sponge bob but its kind of hard to tell when his voice is squeaky so I would say again he is fruity and funny

Actually, I did a whole comedy bit where I gave "evidence" that he is g*y, but the truth of the matter is that he is merely annoying, one of those happy morning people who deserve to be take out back and clubbed with blunt objects for being so "glad".
