  1. I remember as a kid hanging out for shows like The Goodies and the Kenny Everett Video Show. And I hated that stupid Come and Get It cooking show with Peter Russell Clarke on beforehand! But I reckon British comedy was always the best. Although The D Generation was an Aussie classic. The only show I'd go out of my way to watch now would be Two and a Half Men.

But I guess it depends on what you grew up with.

"And it's all done in the best possible taste!" Ha ha ha! (Only fans of Kenny Everett would understand that.)

  2. my favorites were the goodies, the kenny Everett show, the old dr who, get smart, mash

  3. Thay WERE Much better than anything around at the moment, here are some of my favourites

British:- 'Allo'Allo, Are you being served?,

Keeping up appearances , Fawlty Towers, Monty Python ,

    Benny Hill,

Australian:- Australia your'e standing in it , Mother & son ,

Hey Hey it's Saturday , Anything with Graham Kennedy

The Big Gig, Frontline, McFeast (notice how only the ABC seems willing to spend money on comedy? PS Good News week started on the ABCbut has since gone to commercial TV .

    American :-Sienfeld

  4. Oh no! If I answer this i'm gonna give away my age but I couldn't resist!

I love Lucy was a little before my time but I do remember it.

Fawlty towers I still watch re runs today, Love it!

Some of the british comedy's were just the best, like George & Mildred, The two ronnies, Bless this house, Porridge, The Goodies, are you being served, The Good Life, Allo Allo, the young ones, Then the newer ones, Ab Fab, keeping up appearances, I could list more but I won't :)

The American shows were great too, my favourites were:

    Mash, Cheers (loved cheers) Dharma & Greg, happy days, gilligans island, Everybody loves Raymond, Will and Grace etc etc;

Although, I laugh outloud every night when I watch Two and a half men, It is one of the funniest shows around and it;s a new one so I guess they're still making some good ones :)))

  5. Nothing is what it used to be

Too many to name but Get Smart was cool

  6. I used to enjoy it when the networks had a lot of comedy sitcoms and they would pack them together on different nights.  Saturday night meant The Golden Girls, Empty Nest, and Nurses.  Those good evening line ups are what I miss.  I used to watch a lot of network television but maybe only three shows lately.  The networks have become a cesspool of reality, game and talent shows.

    .

  7. I'm 23 and I'd rather watch I Love Lucy than any of the comedies they have on now.  The only ones I really watch are 30 Rock and Boston Legal, but that's more of a satirical drama so I'm not sure if that counts.

  8. ah Molly ... LOL

I still find Brit-comedy ranks fairly highly .. Black Books and I.T Crowd  and the likes ..

My grandmother used to let me watch Up Pompeii ( MIND YOU most of it went straight over my head) .. Get Smart really still holds it's own humour wise but it is dated by the fashion of the times...

Yesterday I watched THE GOOD LIFE ( with felicity Kendall ) and found it amusing ..

but generally I honestly don't think American Comedies are what they used to be .. Up Pompeii was dualled edged with it's humour but too much comedy relies on too much smutt

  9. Well,I for one haven't seen many older TV shows (like you mentioned),much too much before my time, but I do enjoy them more than SOME of today's comedies.

I did love MASH though,if that really counts.

But today, some of my favorite are both NBC's Office and My Name is Earl.

The Office for it's tone, and My Name is Earl because of the oddity of situations. It is all just dependent on taste.

I actually find House to be hilarious in between the medical stuff,a lot of the dialogue is really clever.

  10. The ones I remember worth watching are Friends, and the Cosby Show.

  11. I love M*A*S*H* but still take pleasure in the comedies of this day and age.
