  1. Well, this has been a topic among Olympic officials for a long time now. One of the biggest things they wanted to do with TKD to keep it is not draw too much attention to the sport, especially negative attention. I don't know why they would want to draw no attention but that's what they wanted.

So with the controversy from the past few days I'd have to say that it's a great possibility that it will go under the microscope and quite possibly get removed.

Having judges watch more than one match at a time is wrong and that happened, as well as the Cuban guy kicking the official in the face. These are not good representations of good moral conduct, and may be the catalyst for the decisions of TKD's future.

  2. Probably not.

  3. I hope not, but I think it will be.

It will happen for 2012, but I think 2016 will lose it.

There was so much controversy with judging.  The Lopez family protest dropped a bombshell on the sport, combined with the Cuban guy kicking the ref in the face.

This is a wound that may not heal.

Those close to the sport are also aware of major scandals involving bribes and payment at the highest levels of the World TKD Federation.

  4. certainly not. you can't judge a discipline just cause of some incidents. in any sport, there are always some protests. best example is wrestling. the loser never accepts and refuses to shake hands. it was certainly bad referee issues. besides, this issue is to be dealt with the World TaeKwonDo Federation.

  5. Judo and Karate got the knock for 2012, Karate for these games.  TKD is up for vote after these games.  Before the games, everyone on the IOC spoke that it might not happen coming down to the North Korean vote  and he said he wouldn't vote for keeping it unless WTF and ITF merge and that isn't going to happen soon.  What has happened I think will put up for a no vote quicker.

  6. I don't think so. If Tae kwon do gets eliminated from the olympics, so should judo. Tae kwon do is a form of art and self-defense and like many martial arts, those who practice Tae kwon do are supposed to be honorable sportmen. Unfortunately, people like Lopez and the Cuban seemed to have ignored the basic moral and discipline of Tae kwon do teachings and simply learned to pick a fight.

If anything, they should eliminate the sportsmen who fail to represent the teachings of this sport, NOT the sport itself.

  7. Unless the WTF and the ITF answer this problem in a positive and effective manner it might. The olympic commission seems be corrupt at times so who really knows how they will act over this.

  8. i hope not
