The closer by committee situation in Detroit doesn't seem to be going well.

  1. He's 40, has no power and has an ERA of 5.   I think he will retire and be done with it.

  2. I like Jones, but I think his days are numbered. He's not going to regain alot of  the respect he had in the past. Kenny Rogers and him will be gone next year for sure.

  3. There may not be a need for him if the Tigers do make a legit move for the division.

  4. Slim to no chance of that happening.

  5. They will give the younger players experience closing so in the future Rodney and Zumaya will be able to shut the door on their leads

  6. I think they will continue to move in a direction away from Jones no matter what, he is not in their future plans and he appears to not be in the present plans either!

  7. Yea he will

  8. The closer by committee is going horribly but I'm going to have to give it a no.  Rodney really has had some fire moments this season they just haven't come in save situations, Zumaya hasn't regained hif form either and was never very good at closing, I still think they'll stick with these 2 though

  9. He's ERA ( Earned Run Average ) is too high up which is in the 5's ( which is terrible to a closer ). Also, he is getting old and losing power in his fastballs.

  10. yah jones has the innate ability to get good results without throwing anywhere near 95 or have any good pitches.  Rodney and Zumaya are fireballers that can get away with mistakes b/c they throw in the upper 90's, and instill fear in the opposing line-up.  I dont see Jones going back to closing, maybe a 7th or 8th inning guy or situational guy.
