  1. He might struggle a little at first but I think he is going to turn that team around and win races and be in the chase.

  2. Of course. GO GORDON!!!

  3. He's one of the greatest divers out there.  And for sure he knows a lot more then me.  But will he struggle next year?  Yeah I think so.  After next year?  We'll see.

  4. He'll stumble, fall, and get back on his feet, dust himself off a few times and then he'll turn that team around.

    I've been doubting him, I shouldn't have.

  5. I will agree with Tbone and Winter on this one.  He will struggle a little, but he will get back on course and win some races.  Even if his business partner's in the slammer and the man who builds his engines (Rick Hendrick) should be in the slammer, he'll make do if he hires a good business manager to help him pull out of the hole Gene put him in.

  6. anything can happen everybody thought joe gibbs was going to struggle with toyota

  7. I'm with winter glory!  Tony is going to be awesome!  It may take him a while, he is very smart, he'll do great!  I can hardly wait to watch him turn his new team into, if not the best, it will be one of the best!  I feel like this was a well thought out plan, and Tony is not gonna do anything to hurt himself.  Smoke is gonna be just Fine.

  8. Next year? Probably- while getting the program on its feet.

    2010? Look out!

  9. it is so hard to predict you would think yes... new team new responsibilities and what not but everyone anticipated junior to struggle and look he is 2nd in points so i dont know i think he will do well as a driver back in the chevy

  10. yes. and tony has a temper too. he is going to be funny to watch. and that sucks coz he is one of the best.

  11. Tony Stewart is one of the most talented drivers in Nascar. That said I think he will do ok. He won't be stellar but I don't expect him to truly struggle. He has driven for other smaller teams who haven't been AS competitive as say JGR in the NNS and won (KHI). I don't think it will be the equipment as much as it will be working with a new CC that will be a challenge for him. None the less I expect him to do well, maybe not championship material the first year but I do think he will make the chase and challenge for wins occasionally. If anyone can pull off being a driver/owner in todays top Nascar series it's someone like Tony.

  12. no he will try better next year because he not doing good this year

  13. Yes, most definitely.  New times rarely come out of the gate strong.  It takes two years at least to have things come together.

  14. yes...

There is a big difference between owning a team or just being a driver.

  15. No...if anyone can make this work it's Smoke. It may be a little rough at first but he has the whole off season to make some changes and get his program where he wants it to be. I think his struggles this year have a lot to do with this business venture. His mind has to be going overtime. A lot depends on several things...If Zippy goes with him and if Newman makes the move. Smoke is following his dream and I think that is a big bonus for him. I'm hoping he kicks some booty next year.  =o`)

  16. It's a growing and learning process.  some days will be diamonds and some will be stones.  I wish him the best!!

  17. I don't think so. HMS engines and chassis. I would place him in the chase his first year out as owner driver...

  18. well he's struggling now, and he's switching to not only a new team, but one that he's co-owner of. There's a lot at stake, including his reputation. That's a lot of pressure. Also when you start a new business venture, you don't always come out gangbusters. He may not necessarily be struggling, but I don't think he's going to shine in his first season. I almost feel bad for the guy and wish he would pull a couple out of the hat for 2008. He's just not looking too hot right now, and I think it may be a couple years for him to have the chance to regain his killer status. But then again with the chase format, you never know. He could still be the 2008 Cup Champion.

    (aren't I funny?)

  19. Yes. I think he just threw his driving career out the window.

  20. No Not at all.He will be back in a Chevy and Hopefully have a better pit crew!

  21. No not at all.  This same type of question was asked about Toyota and Gibbs with the same exact answers.  No he will not struggle.  They will win a couple races and he'll make the chase.
