Do you think Turkey will join the EU?

What does this mean for the UK and other countries? Why would the yanks be so gung ho for Turkey joining?

 EU needs it more then small Balkans places in region and as link to world as the D.Camerun says. Mostly EU countries not able to speak about world's issues except for Germany, France and UK. İf Eu wants to be world player, beside of US and Russia, Turkey is the only key.
