  1. no its a stupid idea...MMA is an actual sport not a freakshow like your WWE.  Divisions are put in for safety, go back to the wrestling forum you little t**d

  2. No.

The reason they have weight classes is to avoid fighters having an unfair advantage.

They had those matches in the now defunct PRIDEFC in Japan, they are referred as "freak matches". it's popular in Japan, but it wouldn't be here.

  3. Pride did have an "absolute" tournament in 2003 I think.  Of course guys aren't as delluded as the once were.  These guys are all pretty similar in technical knowledge and conditioning so all things being equal, size and strength matter again.

For it to continue it had to evolve into legit sport and that is fine by me.  I wouldn't mind seeing the guys in the leight heavy fight the heavy's from time to time or similar matchups.  But 150 Vs. 250 isn't gonna be much of a fight anymore.

By the way for the guy who said he would like to see Royce beat Mir, I gotta ask are you smoking crack?   Royce started it all as the representative for his family in the US, but Frank Mir would smoke his @ss.....thanks of course to the knowledge that Royce and his family brought here.   But make no mistake, heavyweight with impeccable skill is gonna destroy Royce.  Look what Matt Hughes did.

  4. No - it would be lame.  The whole appeal of UFC is watching reasonably physically similar fighters try to impose their will against an opponent that has an equal chance.  Otherwise you'd be watching  pre-determined "fights" like WWE or TNA Impact.

If you put a huge fighter with average skills (Brock Lesnar) against a small guy with excellent skills (Miguel Torres) you'd be watching such an unfair fight it would be boring - not even the best fighters in the world have much of a chance overcoming a 150 lb weight disadvantage.   Why would you want to see a little guy get beat up due to nothing but unfair matchmaking?

Sounds like a kind of stupid bully mentality, rather than a real fight fan mentality - people like that should stick to "Pro-Wrestling" or youtube. They make legitimate fight fans seem like thugs and morons.

Edit: Johnny boy?  Did you ever watch the old fights with "no rules"?  A LOT of them were boring.  The idea of standing fighters back up and re-setting them makes the fights more fast-paced.  And having 5 minutes at a time makes the competitors try harder to finish the fights quickly so you don't have those 30-40 minute bore-fest matches that happened in the old UFC.  And Royce would get bashed by Mir.  That's nonsense - Hughes and Gracie were both around 170 and Gracie was dominated.  Mir has just as good a grappling game as Hughes does, and he's 80+ lbs heavier.  Ugh.

  5. I suppose it would be entertaining for a slack-jawed, mouth-breathing idiot who doesn't have the physical or mental intelligence to understand or appreciate an actual sporting event and the skill that goes into it.

  6. It is entertaining to see one of those fights once a year at the new years show for f*g, but the sport is so much more entertaiing today because of the fierce, competiive fights that are put on by two guys at an equal weight with good skill.  I am sorry but a fight between BJ Penn and GSP would be 10 times more entertaining than Brock vs Urijah Faber and a match between Faber and Yammamoto would also be more entertaining.

Everyone likes this sport for different reasons, personally I am a fan of the evolution of the sport and I am looking forward to where it goes in the next 10 years.

  7. No it would not. It will be like watching some Kimbo Slice internet video where he beat up nothing but c**p.

  8. The sport has been there and done that and to have open weight matches would be a devolution to the sport.

  9. The answer to that is ((yes)) it would be, But the truth of the matter is in "93" when it first came out in the US it was no rules, no weights, and all action! Then It was banned from pay-per-view , as they considered it human c**k fighting, In order for it to be view able in the US they gave in weight classes and rules. but yes it would be fun to have A guy like Royce Gracie kick Frank Mir's ***!

  10. Hopefully UFC better then WWE and TNA

    I hope so.
