During this Olympics we have taste of fascination of China, somebody said Chinese regime become worse after Olympics, but did you see Chinese rapid economic achievement? China build high-way across all over the country, and railway also. People live a good life and hopeful, did you see in China , they always smile to us.

As we know, Europe could be a country long time ago, even now ,they want to be a union, because they all like a small babies, join together can make them fell safety and warm. But with the help of USA they were separated into pieces, how can these small pieces can protect themself? How can these small pieces build such system like GPS?

Everything has its reason to exist, we should learn each other quickly,China has come up, USA is falling, don't be so arrogant.Let's calm down, shut up. just learn from China!

  1. China 5000 years of culture, glory, and set backs.

USA less than 500 years of relative success.

Of course a child need to grow up and learn.

  2. I love Chinese analogies. They always look at life from a completely different perspective.

I think the Chicago bidders will certainly change their tact. The whole world witnessed a vast amount of vitriol being directed toward China, and most came predictably from the USA. If Chicago want the 2016 Games they will have to convince the IOC that they will be friendly and not arrogant.

Arrogance is a very difficult cloak to shake off....but I think a lot of Americans are embarrassed by the over-reaction of their compatriots so they will change, and the good thing is it won't be a needs based change but a want-based change.

America will soon overcome its denial that China is an emerging superpower and old fashioned American survival instincts will kick back in, probably in the form of reinvigorated capitalism. A little innovation can go a long way.

  3. we have to we have no choice. like all great empire one day it will all come to an end. I just hope like all great empire we don't implode on ourselves because our ego are so big we couldn't see the arrogance if it slapped us in the face.

  4. ... its true Americans do need a lesson on humility because a lot of problems they are facing now is a result of their arrogance and lack of respect for other cultures and people.

An example of American jackass behavior would be US pole vaulter Jenn Stuczynski happily proclaiming she's going to "kick some Russian butt" at the Olympics but was deservedly put in her position when legendary Russian Yelena Isinbaeva steamrolled her with a WR, 25cm higher than the American. Most likely a record Stuczynski will never surpass...

  5. Han,

I appreciate your comments, especially from your point of view, on what the USA could learn from China.

To answer your question I don't think much will change in the US. Most Americans feel that the Chinese government is oppressive and there's not enough freedom in China. I don't think the political views on China has changed.

As far as the people of China: I believe NBC showed a very positive side of the Chinese people (very different than the government). The view on the Chinese people, I think, was very positive. The coverage showed very pleasant and welcoming people. The people of China were terrific hosts.

I don't think the Olympics made any change in how governments will approach China. China is the fastest growing economy in the world and any country that doesn't recognize that will fall behind. It's simply a fact that needs to be accepted.

As far as the USA being arrogant to calm down, shut up, and learn from China.  The US people have always been arrogant and I don't think that will change until other countries catch up to us in world strength by militarily and economic standards. The US people are also a very vocal people. I don't think they'll ever 'shut up'. It's just our nature. I don't think the US people believe there's a lot to learn from China at this point. The Olympics did not change this view. There are still too much government control, too little freedom for their people, and to much oppression for people (like the Dali Lama) who disagree with the government. The Chinese government stifles creativity and is so different from our own. I don't think this is something the US would like to emulate.

Thanks for sharing your views and congratulations on a job well done with the Olympics. Your athletes performed well also.

    Enjoy!

  6. Ok han solo....wtf are you babbling about to begin with?  Europe is not a country, it's a f'in continent! As for all of them getting along, they all speak different languages, h**l even the Welsh, English, Irish, and Scotts can't get along 100% of the time and they are all one country!  The USA split up the Europeans into different countries rather than one? LMFAO~  Where are you getting this history lesson from?  The Europeans settled America, what is now the USA, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Panama, Cuba, etc. America DID NOT separate the European "country" into smaller countries.  And I wouldn't worry too much about the European countries ability to protect themselves, ever met a German Leopard Tank, or a British Challenger tank or a French LaClerc tank?  Europe is doing fine, worry about your human rights issues, and your pollution before you bother the EU on your views.

  7. I think you are a little confused regarding Europe . To gwbush2004 you are a dolt and a typical American.

  8. One thing is for sure, the USA should educate their citizens to respect the law and the territorial integrity of another country regardless of whether they agree with these laws.

  9. In response to the last commenter -- US needs a lesson in humility???  Learn to respect other cultures, blah blah blah?  You're lucky we don't blow you to oblivion.  You should feel lucky President Bush has good conservative Christian values, because it is only out of the goodness of his heart that have we not.  He is a true hero here in Texas.

Look, we have done more good for the world than your puny nations, especially since President Bush has taken office.  We've liberated the Iraqi people and brought them freedom and democracy.  We have saved the world from Saddam, who was quickly becoming the next Hitler, amassing a stockpile of WMDs.  I don't understand why some of you people don't appreciate what we've done for you???

We can only hope our next President continues the vision of George W Bush in an attempt to restore order to the world.  As long as can continue to establish a conservative majority, I think we should be fine.

As for the Chinese always smiling to us? - You know we've got a saying in Texas about that, and it ain't good.  Beware the coyote's grin.  Let him taste your bullets if he shows you his teeth.  I do agree with you that Europeans are like small babies though.  You got that one right.

    Don't mess with Texas!

  10. Oh please. China has a long way to go and still countless problems to solve before she can reach developed nation status. Yes, the economic achievements are mind blowing but they also create social problems that are getting serious. The squeaky clean Beijing is not representative of China. Maybe China has something to teach the world, but she and her people also need to know humility and not count eggs before they hatch. This I believe is a point espounded by your president Hu Jin Tao.

  11. USA is no longer a democracy anymore, only the american people are forced to believe it is a democracy through american media control! the USA is run by elitist that just have elections just to show the american people that it is still a democracy! but the american people are very ignorant people, america is controled by very rich elitist such as the rockafellar family, the bush dynasty, the defence companies, financial companies and large banks! american people are mere pawns in their game! china is not a democracy which is why it is so strong, mild-communism is the best political system as u have a stable government that dont chop and change every 4 years! just look at russia, once they became a democracy they have lost all their power, they need that 1 government system to become a superpower!

america is a falling superpower, it is a superpower on paper, it is no longer feared economically or politically! and once its dying economy collapses its military will fall apart like the soviets! america is living off its past laurels and its end is nigh! its economy is on the verge of a 40 year depression!

  12. Yes, let's learn how to suppress news better from China! Let's learn how to take away freedom and to cheat using under age athletes.

  13. so china built a highway and a railroad across the country? hmmm, we did that here in the states in the mid 1800s, you're only about 150 years behind us. the only things we can learn from china are how to suppress basic human freedoms and how to alter the  birth certificates of female gymnists

hey dr. hott, if you get rid of us then who'll save your sorry @sses from the next hitler? and we went to iraq to STOP iraqis from being killed by their brutal dictator, who we saw to it was hanged. the only people we're killing in iraq right now are al quada backed islamic extremists who have entered the country illegally to kill our soldiers. the government, and more importantly the citizens of iraq are thankful to us for freeing them of the tyranny of saddam insane.

  14. don't worry americans will never learn-they're too stupid. One day we'll nuke the retards to finally shut the yanks up.

  15. Yes, we can all learn some lessons in humility.  Don't mind some of my fellow Americans gwbush and know it all.  I, too, was impressed by some of the non-American athletes in the Games who handled hardship well.  Four episodes in particular.

1.) Yang Yilin, after getting too low of a score on high-bars smiled larger than anyone and was the only one who seemed genuinely happy when receiving her medal, in spite of the fact she probably should have won.

2.) Ryoko Tani of Japan showed great honor and dignity after losing a match on a questionable ref call and having to settle for bronze instead of the gold she expected

3.) The silver medalist for China in badminton (I forget her name), was getting blown out in a couple of her matches, but never showed anger or frustration on her face, unlike her competitors.

4.) Su Li-Wen of Taiwan, injured her leg prior to the Games, yet showed tremendous heart in fighting her way to the Bronze medal match in Taekwondo hopping around on one leg, utilizing the Crane from the Karate Kid movies and almost pulling off a medal.

I would say that most countries and guests of China for these Olympics were very pleased.  China should feel proud for the Olympics they put on.  And we all should lessons from those athletes who showed dignity and humility in their matches.

  16. you do realize that every white male that reads this will flame you mercilessly.

what i do see is that chinese arrogance and pride is getting as bad as white american male pride.
