The womens game lags far behind the mens. Initially this would have been due to women being treated as second class citizens, but as we (allegedly) now live in more enlightened times than our Victorian ancestors, the womens game is still played on a predominantly amateur basis, and is often seen as a bit of a joke.
Cricket Australia have recently announced plans to attract more women to the game:

The hope is, that by attracting more women as spectators, more women will take up the game.
Should it remain a bastion of male supremacy? Or should women be allowed to take the game seriously, rather than just a student game? By becoming more professional, it would attract a wider spectrum of society to play the game, which would raise standards, this would in turn raise spectator levels, raising revenue, and attracting more sponsorship.
I would like to see womens cricket raised to a higher level.
Would you?
