I think she is cute! I want to hear what you think. Do you think they should have used her, or did they make the right decision?

For those of you that don't know the little girl who really sang in Beijing at the opening ceremonies was merely lip-syncing. Little Ping is the actual voice!

  1. The idea of lip syncing is no big deal.  What has set me on edge however, you don't sponsor a national contest, choose a winner (Yang Peiyi) for singing and then at the last minute, (after some s*****k decides she isn't 'perfect') replace her,  but oh by the way we'll use your voice.

I can't even imagine the disappointment the family felt and how this little girl feels about herself.

    They are schmucks!

  2. Shes adorable.

  3. I think she should have been on that stage.

  4. chines are always liers and cheaters.its a proven fact, d**n chinese !free tibet free taiwan.olympics shouldn't have been held there at first place.

  5. The one on the right looks like a little version of Tila Tequila.

  6. Let's stop kidding ourselves. You all are very Sweet and P.C. to talk about how wrong it is for the Beautiful Child to be used as the Cover-Face for a Beautiful Voice...People this is the Olympics...A Highly Televised,Lucrative Event, The more Lucrative The Better!   Remember the child with the Good Voice is 'CUTE',  the other child is  'BEAUTIFUL'  and Beauty Sells...Harsh Reality...that's the way of the World.

  7. She is cute. They made it seem like she was the ugliest thang on earth. They are so mean and post it on the interneet saying she wasn't cute enough. Awe poor baby I wonder how she feels right now.

  8. I think she is cute, they should have let her sing in front of everybody not hide her.

  9. She's adorable!  There was no reason not to allow her to appear in the opening ceremony.

  10. I don't think appearance should have played a role in the decision at all.  But the world doesn't always work the way it should.

    UNDERCOVERAGENT:

Your argument would hold far more weight if it didn’t generalize the mentality of an entire nation based on your limited personal experience. It’s as ludicrous as proclaiming all of us ignorant after meeting one narrow-minded American. If you have travelled much, you’d realize that every culture has its admirable qualities as well as flaws. Don’t get me wrong. I love my country and I’m proud to be an American. But belittling others isn’t necessary in showing one’s pride.

While there’s no denying that the act of switching the two girls is awful, it would be unreasonable to say the entire nation (including many people who had no knowledge or choice in the decision) is pathetic.

Furthermore, some people have made the very legitimate observation about the universal prevalence of valuing superficial beauty. It happens in every country (our country is no exception), and the phenomenon’s not limited to the adult population. Even infants prefer beautiful people over plain ones. There’s a certain biological basis for this kind of prejudice. Symmetry and the golden ratio (phi) are essential components of beauty. Asymmetry is often associated with genetic abnormalities and serves as an indication of decreased ability for survival. As a result, the human species have been bred to valued symmetry and beauty. Although we have come a long way since the discovery of fire and wheel, the association between physical imperfections and genetic disadvantage still exists…just take a look at Down syndrome and Sturge-Weber syndrome.

None of this is meant to excuse the behavior of the people who made that horrible decision, but at the same time we could try to be less judgmental and instead try to avoid making similar mistakes.

I’m not attacking you or anyone else…merely trying to show more tolerance. The lack of it is one of the reasons behind all the senseless killings in the middle east. Maybe if more people practiced tolerance, there would be fewer hate crimes.

  11. It does make China look a bit superficial.  But at the same time, you can't really blame them for wanting to make sure that EVERYTHING was as perfect as possible.  This is a big event for China, not just because of the olympics, but more so of a coming-out party.  Lots of people do not think of China as being modern or industrialized, even though they're buying more cars than the US and in the coming years will only become even more of a superpower.

I personally didn't see why they couldn't have had Ping on stage  singing, instead of the other girl lip-synching but then again, such things are pretty common in Asia where you have the pop-stars who can actually sing, and the others whose only talent is looking cute on stage.  (then again, this also happens in the US - why else did we consider Britney Spears to be such a superstar?  was it because of her voice...or the fact she dressed like a S****y schoolgirl?)

  12. before anybody starts critisizing china i've got the real story

little girl #2 (the one who wasn't chosen) wasn't not chosen because of her looks it was because she had stage fright. altho she had the best voice she was too scared to sing in front of that many ppl...so they went with the little girl #1 who was extremely experienced as she had sang in front of millions b4 ...IT WAS NOT BECAUSE OF THE GIRLS TEETH or her cuteness!!!

  13. She's a beautiful little girl.

  14. i know, it's such a shame! they should have let her sing definitely - they look really bad now everyone's found out!
