  1. Not a fan of Solitare rings at all

  2. I'm left handed so my ring is tiny mostly because i'm afraid to knock it loose from its setting. But to answer your question, i think really big stones look fake, and its totally dangerous. You could get knocked up side the head and have your ring stolen.

Smaller is better, and it shows that love, not money is the root of your marriage.

  3. It depends on the quality of the stone, I'm assuming we're talking about a diamond here. Usually the larger the stone the poorer quality it is, unless we get up into the tens of thousands price range. As far as it looking fake, I'm sure it'll be fine. You might consider going for a three stone ring rather than on solitaire, it might appears smaller, but the stones will probably be clearer.

  4. depends on the girl

i aint a diamond girl, not 10 wild horses will get me to wear those US big flashy diamond stone rings ...i prefer simple stylish and practical ala what i grown up seeing in europe, so rings we get (bf is from US) is likely to be european style

normaly people know stones in wedding rings are the real thing, and most common people wouldnt have the knowledge to see the difference truth be told.

  5. If you have bigger hands then it will look fine. Personally I'd rather have a 1ct with amazing clarity, color, cut and polish than a bigger diamond...oh wait..that's what I already have! lol but anyway, go for quality rather than quantity. But yes a 1.5 will look fine (NOT fake) if you have bigger hands, if you have smaller hands like I do (I wear a 5.5) then it might like more fake...but who cares. It's your hand and your ring. Wear it with pride no matte what it is!

  6. It won't look fake... my friend has a 2 carat princess cut solitaire and it just looks amazing.

Unfortunately the ring is going to last longer than the marriage (they're getting a divorce after 3 years).

I myself would prefer a .75 with .25 of sidestones, but that's just my personal taste. I think generally bigger is better as long as your not sacrificing quality.

  7. As long as you get a decent color and clarity diamond. If you sacrific color and clarity for size its going to look like cz. Also, like others said, dont put yourself into debt just to have a big huge rock, its not all about the size, its about what the ring means... Its a shame whaty society has done to belittle the real meaning of an engagement ring..

  8. I love solitaire's.

I think they are timeless, classic, understated, and just lovely in general.

Yes, mine is a solitaire.  It's about 1.25 and does not look fake at all.

I would go with a better clarity and color before moving to a larger size.

  9. No it shouldn't mine is a solitare princess cut .50 and I've seen them up to 1.75 and they look really bligish but not fake but they wouldn't look right on a woman with smaller fingers I don't think thats my opinion

  10. Only if you're driving a beat-up car, living in a furnished apartment, still paying back college loans & can't keep current with your bills.

  11. I don't think the size of either would make it look fake. If you live a very poor lifestyle, then show up with a 1.25 or 1.5 carat diamond, then people would think it was fake.

  12. a partner who loves me more than the ring on mi finger ? ?

  13. Sounds good to me. Solitaires are always special and I'm sure your girlfriend will like the bigger one.

BUT it does depend on the size of her hands if medium to big this would be okay. If however she has smaller hands like myself the smaller stone would suit her better

  14. when i was 40, i bought myself a 1.25 carat pear solitaire. No it did not look fake and got a lot of attention. go for it.

a lot depends on where you live. in new york city, 1.25 - 1.5 carat would be considered small.

edited to add: consider getting sizing balls or a non rounded shank so that top heavy ring doesn't spin on your finger. drives me nuts...

  15. No, why would it look fake? It's such a beautiful cut!! Best of luck, and Happy Marriage!!
