6 Gold & 2 bronze in Athens and 6 Golds with 2 more to go in Beijing.

If he does get 2 more; his total would be 16--two shy of Soviet Women's gymnast Latynina, Larissa.

Will he go to London to grab more medals or will he retire?

  1. Before the Olympics he did not rule out either 2012 nor 2016 so I'm not sure what he's talking about.

Why would he give up his $5M/yr endorsements at age 23?

I'd like to know where your resource is. (one of mine is below)

"...Phelps still has three events to swim this week and has declared that he will attend his fourth Olympic Games in London in 2012. It is conceivable he could have twice as many gold medals as the next best by the time he has finished."

PS: Since when is it greedy to go to the Olympics, represent ones country, and compete to be the best in your selected event(s)?

I hope this answers your question. I'd be suspect of the other two.

  2. He already said he will compete in London. They reported it on NBC (for what that's worth).

He is just an incredible athlete (apparently his body is disproportional but just right for a swimmer). He will be in London and get the most medals ever for an Olympian and probably becomes the greatest athlete of all time. Go Phelps!

  3. No, he already stated that Beijing will be the last Olympics he plans on competing in.

  4. He will be there. He is too Greedy not too
