I just bought this cage for my hamster cause i noticed the paint was coming off of it cause she bites it constantly at night! The cage box says that i makes the hamster stop chewing the cage! It looks like a normal cage to me, it might work, but i'm still questioning it! HELP!

  1. 1) A glass aquarium is a cheap and easy solution. They are usually around $10 for a ten gallon one.

2 ) Make sure the hamster has access to chew toys. Their teeth constantly grow, so they need something to chew on.

    3) You could buy a cage without bars they can get to. Crittertrail "Home Outlook" tub-type cages work well - http://www.amazon.com/CritterTrail-Home-... -

If she is chewing the paint off, thats probably a bad thing, no matter what the manufacturer is saying. I would put her in a new cage.

  2. If you get her toys and things to chew she may stop chewing at her cage. I'm not sure if there is a chew-proof cage though.

  3. get a glass aquarium. i had the same issue. my gerbil eats EVERYTHING in the cage, she even totally ate up a plastic wheel..but a glass aquarium with a wire lid should help

  4. I don't know if they work but i very much doubt they do

Try buying treats to chew instead, much tastier. ;)

And toys to destract it wouldn't be a bad idea either.

  5. Careful it doesn't have anything that will harm her tongue or taste way to bad.

  6. There is nothing called a chew proof cage. As long as the cage is a wire cage, a hamster will tend to chew on it. Otherwise, you should go in for an glass aquarium tank or bin cage to prevent hamster chewing.

Give your hamster other things for chewing like empty toilet paper rolls or dog biscuits (sugar free) to take his mind off the cage. A hamster chewing cage also signifies a bored hamster so try to play with him as much as possible and put him for 20 mins often in the hamster ball so that he is happy and does not start chewing the cage out of boredom.
