Do you think a girl by the name of Annika (AN-ih-kah) would DEFINITELY be called Ann for short?

Also, please tell me which of the following names you like best and please include why that is. The names are Annika June and Annika Eliza. If you could, I would greatly appreciate it if you'd describe the personality and/or appearance of a little girl by the name of Annika June, or Annika Eliza.

Lastly, being that I dislike the name Ann/Anne, could you list some nicknames for the name Annika, perhaps? I really thank you so much. :^] You have a great day/night!

  1. Annika is a very pretty name. i picture a brown haired, brown eyed girl, petite, sweet, smart, and confident

Anne is a great possibility of a a nickname, but there is also Annie and Nika (very cute), Nick, Nikkie.

i love the name Tahlya. it is so pretty. also spelled Talia.

  2. I had a friend who was Annika and we never called her Ann.

Her nicknames were Annie, Nikki, Nik, and Kiki.

So to answer your original question, No, i don't think she will DEFINATELY be called Ann.  She might, but there are other options.

As for the middle name we can't really say without seeing how it would flow you your surname.  Do you need a short middle name like Annika Rose, Annika June, or Annika Elise or do you need something longer like Annika Isabel, Annika Madeline or Annika Juliette?

  3. I'm sorry but these names are horrible! Its sounds so ghetto. And you know how ppl discrimate just by your name these days. Pick something else. Your child will thank you for it.

  4. I think it would depend on the personality of the child.  Ann would be more likely if she was reserved, shy, calm, even-tempered...but if she was vivacious, outgoing, "bouncy"...I think "Nik" or "Nika" would be a more likely nickname (I like both of those by the way).  Of course, it is entirely possible she would be the type of child that avoids nicknames and no one would use a shortened form of her name!

Don't really like either of those middle names with Annika...would help if I knew the last name but if I had to choose, I'd go with Eliza just because I like that name better than I like June.  Eliza also gives more options for her to choose a name or nickname she prefers (Liza, Liz, Ellie).  The only thing I like better about June is that it gives her the option of a masculine nickname if she turns out to be a tomboy and hates both her "girly" names..."AJ" is a cute nickname for a girl.

Personalities for each...I think that's my problem...Annika is exotic and mysterious and modern...Eliza is old fashioned and countrified...June is schoolmarm-ish and placid...they just don't fit.  Well, actually, Eliza June is the best combination of the three (it flows off the tongue better than the other two)...but I like Annika the best!

Again, so much depends on the last name...but I liked the sound of Annika Joelle (flows well...I think it has something to do with the number of syllables in the first and middle name...like the three syllable-two syllable flow better than 3-1 in the first option and 3-3 in the second)...Annika Jaden it also kind of interesting (I had picked Trinity Jaden for a girl...initials TJ...but I had a son!).

  5. I love the name Annika. Ann might be used as a nickname but I think that Annie would also be used when she is younger. Nika is a pretty nickname that I think would suit her as well. I think that Annika June sounds better than Annika Eliza but Annika Grace or Annika Hope would also sound good. I think that Annika reminds me of a very cute little girl and a very intelligent and mature young woman. I think that the name will serve her well :)

  6. I think Annika June sounds the best, it has a really nice flow. Annika Rose could be sweet too;) I think Annika Eliza doesn't have enough flow to it, when a name ends with a vowel, the next name can sound strange if it starts with one e.g Annika Ellie.

Possible nicknames for the name Annika could be Annie, Anne, Nik or Nikki.

As for personality and appearance of a little girl with that name, I imagine a small sweet girl with brown hair. But you know that you can imagine all you want about what she would look like but really it's up to the genetics. For all I know you could be a blond.

Anyway, I'm sure if you have a nice name like this one she won't have any name teasing problems and as long as you bring her up with good morals, values and manners she will be a lovely child. Congratulations on the baby and good luck =)

  7. I LOVE Annika!!!

    So pretty.

    Annika June is the best.

HATE Tahlya.  Sounds like a slave name.

    Nick names:

    Ann is the best.

    Try:

Nic (so cute for a girl. pronounced like the boy's name Nick)

Nica (pronounce it: Nee-ka)  Changed my mind:  This is my fav.

    Niki

  8. I'm imagining Annika is pronounced differently in different countries...

In New Zealand, we pronounce Annika as Arn - a - ka

So from that, you wouldn't get the pronunciation of Ann

I know of an Annika, and have never heard it being shortened.  If you like the name just stick to your guns about the full name being used by role modelling it.

I'd go with Annika June simply because I don't like Eliza.

I think of a girl called Annika as being blond with a quiet personality.

Also I dont' know how to pronounce Tahlya.  Tarl-ya? Or do you mean Tahlia?  If so, I love Tahlia?

  9. No if you tell people her name is annika then they will call her that just say "we don't shorten names at our house" or "we prefer her Full name"

    just let people know

  10. i named my daughter jennifer and everyone calls her that because she always said my name is jennifer and they would get the hint.

  11. I know an Annika who always went by that.  I like Annika June better because of the alternating syllables Annika is 3, June 1.  Also with Annika Eliza they both are 3 and both have that rhymey feel with the 'ah' at the end.

  12. Yup i think they would call her Ann. the name that i like the best is Annika June it seems more original and june is a really pretty name. annika june seems like a name of an really nice little girl or a model. A nickname would be Annie or something. i hope this helped

  13. I love the name Annika!

Since you don't like Ann, an alternative nickname could be Niki (spelling varies).

    Good luck!

  14. My mom works with a woman named Aniko and she is referred to by her full name by everyone. No worries.

If you pick Annika June there's always A.J. Or another nickname might be Konnie, Annie or Nika.

  15. no she could be just annika

    or annie

    or nikki

and i also dont agree that this name is ghetto, i think its hardly in the same league with names like De'Andre and LaShondra

i think a little girl called Annika sounds cute and cheeky/mischevious with blonde or light brown hair and maybe freckles who is sporty and friendly with everyone.

  16. Probably you can,but its to cliche to have Ann as a nickname. You can use NIHKAH.If you use Annika June, you can have it as AJ,for bubbly little girl.Annika Eliza,it sounds like the other for me better to have it AJ.

  17. Annika- blonde hair, pretty, maybe a little tall, funny

Annika Eliza- shy, pretty,  brown hair

    Annika June- wild, unpredictable, fun

    Nicknames-

    Annie

    Kiki [keekee]

    Nikki

    Anikki

    Nick

    Nika

    Kika

    Hope it helps!
