  1. sure you can.  just as long as you make sure you definitely know how to do it and have the right materials.

  2. course you can!  heres a few tips for you though...it can be pretty hard on the hands if its the click type...if you have a long room to do an extra pair of hands would be useful....ask a friend....as its your first attempt,go for a beading around the edges rather than pulling skirting off....where you have architrave, just lay a board on the floor beside it and using this as a guide, handsaw the bottom of the architraves(handsaw flat on the floorboard) and youll be able to slip your board underneath after...basically youre cutting the thickness of a floorboard off the bottom of the architrave ...youll never cut the flooring around the architrave properly otherwise and this way you wont have to take architrave off...also be aware of your doors....if they have saddles, fine,if not you may need to cut the door if it opens into room...take your time and youll find its quite easy!

  3.   You sure can..Basic tools you ll need is a table saw, a chop saw ,(meter box) hand saw, to under cut any door casings , hammer and a tapping block that can be bought at any big box store.. They come w/ spacers you ll need to leave at the edges.. One thing a recommend to any 1 st timer is get a willing to learn friend to help out.. It s easier w/ a friend to do whole rows at 1 time..So make it a day date w/ anyone(make sure you provide lunch and beverages (from ONE beer to kool ade lol)Never use power tools while drinking .. GL

  4. Of course you can.  If you are unsure of how to use the necessary tools (saw) ask at your local home depot, they are great help with things like that.  I would recommend enlisting some help, it is a lot easier with an extra set of hands.

  5. Yes of course. Make sure you anticipate it taking twice as long as it says on the box, and take your time to do it the way you want it (ie: be careful and methodical). If you give yourself too little time to do the project, you might rush it, then you'll feel like you did it wrong. Well, that's how I feel anyway!

Ensure that the undersurface is totally clean and level and that you start in the best corner so you don't find yourself stuck with no exit :) That's pretty much all you need to know other than the box instructions and whatever you might have seen on a DIY video.

    Good for you!

  6. yes you can ,  just    practice on .one box of tiles.

  7. I'm sure you could.  Go for it.  You might end up doing a better job than a man :P

  8. YES - YES - YES,  girls can do most things that guys do.  Just follow the directions properly and your floor will be super nice.

  9. Big Time!

  10. I would say there is no reason to think a girl could not be able to.  You should take your time and follow the instructions carefully, as you do not want to have to tear them out and redo them.

  11. Sure you can! Go for it!

  12. WHy not.  Just wear safety glasses to protect your eyes.  Measure twice cut once.  Take your time.  You know, all the same advice that a man should follow but doesn't because "We know better!!"

    Good luck!!!

  13. i girl can do anything! i am the smartest girl in my fam about that stuff

  14. Male or female has absolutely nothing to do with your ability, willingness to learn is key.

    As a novice you need only be;

1- comfortable with your abilities to handle power equipment,

2- have the ability to understand and follow directions,

3- have the ability to accept the fact that you will, in all likelihood, make a few mistakes.  Mistakes are not normally the end of the world events though they may feel like it.

Some of the other responses have given you good advice, some simply responded because of their need to be seen as non-sexist.  I won't repeat their thoughts on the subject, EXCEPT for this one.   Installing the materials is not quite as easy as it looks in the TV commercials and youtube videos, so I would suggest you have someone, anyone, help you this first time.

The reason for the second person is to have a helper when you are cutting the materials and to have someone to help with getting the materials aligned.  In construction most tasks are assigned a helper just for those reasons.

  15. So long as you know how to safely use a skill saw, and a few other simple tools, there is no reason why you cannot do it yourself, but it's a lot easier with a little help from a friend. Ask around.

  16. Absolutely go for it
