Do you think a lot of dentists want to pull wisdom teeth just for the money?

How many times now have I heard people say that the dentist wants to pull so-and-so's wisdom teeth when they don't hurt, aren't causing any problems with the skull and/or other teeth, or they're coming in correctly. Why are dentists always so eager to pull your wisdom teeth even when they aren't causing problems?

  1. I am an expert at visiting dentists and having dental work done. No one has bigger patient files than I do. I can promise you that dentists do not pull wisdom teeth for the money. Extractions are one of the cheapest procedures that dentists can do. If they really wanted to rip you off, they would try to perform root canals on the wisdom teeth-knowing that it would cost more than a thousand and eventually you will lose the tooth anyway. Not to mention all the visits you'd have to make in between because of all the problems you'd be having. Wisdom teeth are not necessary to the body and most of them cause problems. People literally become ill when the wisdom teeth grow in. They are prone to cavity formation and they push against other teeth, among all the other wonderful problems that they cause.

  2. My opinion is this: If we get them that's for a reason...idk but I think the human body is to perfect to have "mistakes".

  3. I think they just pull them out as a precaution, in case they cause you problems later in life. I had to get mine taken out because my mouth is so small, they would have never have come in. So they dug into my gums and out they went! I had ten teeth taken out in all in my life. Thank goodness I've had them taken out already, because I am planning on joining the Peace Corps, and everybody who joins has to have theirs removed! Eeek!

  4. Because down the line they do cause problems. they're very hard to get the tooth brush to, and that cause decay and everything else. Plus later on they can start pushing your teeth together. Dentists aren't just pulling teeth for the fun of it, or the money.
