The woman (my best friend) is a 20 something & the man is a 40 something. By the time get married & settle down & have a child the man will be 50 & she will be 28. Do you think he is too old to father a child? What are the problems that you foresee in this scenario?

  1. I'm 20 something married to a 40 something and we're having kids ... probably well into my thirties. We have one already and the next is on the way.

    Definitely not to old!

The only foreseeable prob is that the husband will most likely die before the wife, which is terrible. However, if you love someone, it's worth it to be with them for as long as you're able.

  2. He is not to old to father the child,

But, he is to old to be a "father to the child."

He can not get on the floor and play with the child.

Can't play games, read stories, or take the child

    on circus rides. <}:-{(

  3. I think that is selfish. 50 is too old for a baby. you have to think about birth defects. there is a greater chance for downs syndrome, etc. there is a reason that you are supposed to have children earlier. the older the man or woman, the more risk there is with their genetic material.

  4. there is lots of may-december romances, whether they have children is not beyond a man if the woman is still capable of having children.

  5. well it's a bit old, but if he is an active man it shouldn't be too bad... the only down side is he may not have enough energy to keep up with a young child

  6. well i see no problem with it 50 is still younge he'll still be around to see the kid grow up and there is no age limit on child producing years for a man

so i see nothing wrong with it

  7. no big deal. my husband is 45 and i'm 31. we have a 20 month old and loving life.

  8. Why do you care what they are doing?. I think 50 is a beautiful age to be a father. A jewel in his crown. My father was that age when I was born, and he was a great dad. I did loose him when I was 18, but parents die at all different ages. They sound like a wonderful couple. I love older men, mine has silver hair, and he is going to be a daddy again to baby number 5. Babies are blessings. Did you know David Letterman became a dad at I think age 53. Look at all the Hollywood dad's like Mel Gibson and so on. Go tell your friends what I have said, give them your blessing.

  9. Honestly, I do. He'll be in a home by the time the kid graduates high school.

But, it's their life, not mine.

  10. there is no problem with that at all. as long as he's heatly n active, theres no problem.

Al Pacino the actor had a kid in his late 50'> and Isaac Hayes who just past had a 2yr old, Michael Douglas is in his 50's n have kids. (just naming celebs of that age group bcuz i personally don't know anyone)

  11. i think as long as he makes good bucks its a good idea because the more he makes the more in support in the future she can get and if the child is 5 when he kicks the bucket she get the huge ssi check for the kid it all about the money now days

  12. I think so, only because I had a child at 33 and I know i could not take a child out all the time to snowboard, ice skate, roller skate, teach how to ride a bike, etc when I'm in my 50's.

  13. Is that any worse than a 50 year old woman having a child.

  14. Defiantly not and if they want a baby it is there choice not yours

  15. nope...the guys probably got another 30-40 years left in him...plenty of time to raise a kid properly into adulthood.

Just dont think about the saggy balls, and you wont be offended either.

  16. I think a man of just about any age can father a child, but what really bothers me is the fact of a big age difference between them,As he gets older she is still going to be a young lady and many times I've seen things go wrong with that chemistry. I hope I'm wrong this time.

  17. As long the man's healthy & responsible, i don't see why. Age not a barrier.

  18. He should be looking at retiring and getting kids out of the house now and not bringing them into this world.  The kids at school will think it is the Grandfather picking them up.

  19. If he is healthy then I think it's fine :)

  20. my mom was 35 and my dad was 51 when i was born so i have no problem with it or i would not be here.

  21. idk...I think that he wont beable to have as long and see his son er daughter and.....idk how to explain it...

  22. no i dont think that he is too old to father a child. as long as he is physically able to take care of and raise the child properly then theres no problem in my eyes.

  23. your not to old...children love their parents no matter what age. and you are probably stable now more than ever..i say go for it..
