Do you think a person like this could ever achieve peace in their life?

Lets say someone was raised in a horrible environment were they were beaten and raped and practically left for dead, then in this persons 20s they had finally come to terms with it and was achieving peace and happiness for the first time in their life, then a few months later something happened where they were kidnapped for about a month and beaten and left for dead

Do you think it is possible for this person to ever achieve peace in their life?

They would have to work hard to acheive peace after having such a horrible existence.  They will always be dealing with overcoming this.
