I am planning a vacation for next year. I was thinking of a road trip to Orlando, FL. from philly area, PA. I know it takes 17hrs to get there I have done it before. Airfare is outrageous these days! So I was thinking part of the vacation could be the road trip itself them when we get there we check into our hotel and check out all the theme parks. Were are in our mid 20's my boyfriend has never been to FL. I have and I love it. Do you think this is a bad idea? Any suggestions on something that may be better for a couple our age? Thanks!

  1. Gas will cost a fortune and it will take a lot of days out of your trip, but if you're not pressed for time -- sure why not? Plane tickets round trip will be like $200 a piece.

    Hope you have fun

  2. Do a road trip and hire a villa like this one

  3. Sure.......if you have time......some people have to work.....

  4. if u dont want 2 take a road trip 2 florida take a trip 2 northern new york like a romantic place.

and if u really want 2 go 2 florida take a road trip. you can stop by places and take a brake from the road and "BE WITH" your boyfriend for a while. and if you take a road trip you will b able 2 c all the beautiful places while u drive ther. and plus its a really roantic ride down. so u will b able 2 do wat ever u want 2 w/ ur boyfriend like car ride or bus.

    hope this helped

  5. Sounds like a great idea.  I'd hit one of the coasts while you're out here too.  St. Pete Beach is a really nice tourist area on the gulf in Tampa.  It's only about an hour and half drive from Disney.  Great place to watch the sunset over the ocean with a cocktail.  You could do Busch Gardens while you're out there too.

Being in your mid 20's I'd make sure to make my way over to Universal too.

Have fun and welcome to Orlando!

  6. Absolutely do it!  We now live in FL, but when we moved to TX from MN, we started making road trips to WDW with our 3 kids.  It was 15 hrs., and we'd drive straight through.  (thanks to Gameboys and movies)

Driving vs flying:  It's not as simple as just needing airfare.  You'd also need a rental car and the gas for that, but I bet you've already thought of that which is why you're proposing a road trip.  Driving is still probably less, but it wouldn't hurt to keep an eye out for low airfare and compare costs.

  7. road trips are always fun!  me and a group of friends have done a road trip to myrtle beach 4 years ago and virginia beach last week, from new york, not quite as far as florida, but it will save you money and you can take your time and stop at places along the way.
