  1. I have no idea how this started getting passed off as real, but it is a scene from Never Back Down. I know, I know... Nobody saw it, so not recognizing it is forgivable.

    Edit:

I should point out that a flip can be effective in reversing some joint locks if performed quickly. The risk is high, but it's an effective way to "beat the circle."

  2. After watching that one punch knock out -after all that jumping around and flipping, I would say not.

Idealistically, though, I would say there is a time and place to use acrobatic skills for the advantage.  Or maybe that's just the avid Hong Kong Kung Fu movie lover talking, ha.

  3. Yes the movie Never Back Down made it look like a big no, huh. I have never seen it work and I have never seen it not work. so I do not know. but I think it would be dumb to make an assessment off of the movies, especially one that is promoting mma

  4. it would be nice to see coperia in a real mma fight but when someone thinks hmm i want to be an mma fighter i don't think they rush to the coperia gym i would say no definitely not no functionality in martial arts unless someone proves me wrong i think all that flipping is a waste of energy

  5. of course they do

acrobatics are a key way to develop strength and balance.

In capoeira many acrobatics are used to regain distance or to trick the opponent.  but of course that's in the game aspect.  I doubt that you'll ever start doing saults during a fight.  but as a training tool acrobatics serve their pupose

  6. well doing the flips and stuff are good for training because you leanr balance and build up strength its like conditioning. actually in the fight probably isnt usefiul unless you are really good and can dodge the attacks with flips easily.
