  1. there are certain things that schools require so it makes it hard to allow students to choose. at my school, one marking period would be set for students to pick what to take. there was: basketball, dance/cheerleading and wrestling that was offered, and students chose where to go. it was great because i was a cheerleader and that is something that no one really covers in gym class

  2. No, I think it should be mandatory that students take gym. It can give them good habits for when they grow up. For my school we HAVE to take for the first two years of High School and then decide if we want to take it again.

  3. Uh, no.  Just like math assignments and essay tests shouldn't be assigned by students.  PE teachers are actually trained in what they do, and while you may not like all of the activities they choose, those activities are chosen for a reason.

  4. ya

  5. definately, i also think you shouldn't be graded on how much of an athlete you are cuz my qpa is terrible because of my gym grade of all grades

  6. Yes, because they know what keeps them fit and what they can do best at and this is helping them. However, you do still need to enforce compulsory things to do in PE, so they aren't choosing JUST the things they are good at but are also improving their weaknesses.

  7. Partially. But, some things should be manditiory to expose them to different types of exercise. If you let them choose all the time, they would never choose new things, just things they're good at.
