I was chatting with a friend and he says Boeing lost a lot of money from the tanker thing, and wont be able to afford to keep the 737 production going or something. He says everytime Boeing makes comes out with a plane, airbus makes one similar and the airlines will choose that. He thinks Boeing wont have enough money, and eventually all airlnies will be forced to buy airtrash. I'm really freakin out because my future might be in the cockpit of a g*y airbus aircraft, and I'm really worried. What do you think? Is this possible, or even likely? :(

  1. As long as there are pilots who want airliners that do exactly as they are told, there will be a market for Boeing aircraft.

  2. Oh good lord. I work for Boeing. The 767 line only accounts for 1% of the company. And there are 6 years of orders left for the 737. Boeing is a multi BILLION dollar empire. Its going to be ok.

  3. g*y Airtrash? It's not even worth answering such BS.....

  4. Only if the Americans allow it.

Like I told an Airbus Rep. When airbus is coming out Boeing is laughing because its like buy 5 you can take 5 more and payment is after 5 years. So Boeing just wonders if Airbus is earning money yet with Europe behind it, it waited and now or the last five years Airbus is doing the collecting of IOU's while Boeing is amazed because the Asia and the world is flooded with Airbus planes

Now Boeing is trying to do the same in commonality of the cockpit because that is where Airbus hurt them most. A 340 captain can do 2-3 simulator and 1 transition flights and he is now a 330 or an A320 pilot.

though I like Airbus more I can only say one thing

"It's US against the world again" and this is where America is great when odds are against him.

  5. I hope not. But only because Airbus makes the world's ugliest aircraft. Conversely, the Boeing 787 is totally the world's best-looking jet. In reality, my company builds equipment for both, so whoever wins, I win. If the U.S. wants to stay competitive in any industry, it has to stop letting the unions push them around.

  6. I don't think Boeing is going to be taken over by Airbus any time soon.    Competition is a good thing for both companies.

While the tanker deal was a big loss-and may mean that the 767 line will come to an end,  I anticipate that Boeing will use this extra space to expand production on the 787 dreamliner- the fastest selling airplane in history.

Airbus does not have a similar airplane to the 787 and it is estimated that it will take them years to develop similar technology.

  7. NO....airjunk will not take over Boeing Capt Zach. Boeing is doing just fine will 737,787 and 777 orders. The 767 tanker would have keep the 767 line open for a few more years, but it did not represent a large percentage of Boeing's business. People need to understand that the Northrup-EADS tanker will be manufactured in Europe with the tanker conversions being done by Northrup in the US. I do not understand why Boeing did not base its tanker on the 777,but as I understand it Boeing has appealed the Air Forces decision so the final decision has not been made.

  8. I don't believe this country will allow Boeing to tank. I think there will be some government intervention before that happens.

  9. if i were to say my opinon about airbus being worse than boeing

all the europeians would get mad at me and give me thumbs down

here if i say i like boeing better than airbus i get thumbs up

i belive the ugly airbuses wont take over boeing

i think boeing was smart for taking the smaller apporach

    ;

vent tho it is a large aircraft the 787 is

its not huge like a380 so i think that 787 and so on and so forth will keep boeing on forever

    LONG LIVE BOEING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  10. I don't know all the details but many feel Boeing is being "punished" because of some kind of bribery scandal involving this tanker contract.  Airbus says they're going to build them in Mobile, AL but many are p.o.ed about this and I don't think it over.

    .

  11. nice to see americans keeping such an open mind to competition, why do u think airbus has managed to gain such a large proportion of the civil aviation market?could it be better product, more innovation, better marketing. you really should get on some of those aircraft you produce and get out of the country more , you might realise that the world does not end at your shores.
