  1. Then who would capitalists exploit?

  2. Yes it is possible.  The economy is not a zero sum game, it can be grown if the environment is right..

  3. If the population of Earth is drastically reduced every one of us could actually have a private Robinson Crusoe island.

Overpopulation is the cause for every evil I can think of.

In Isaac Asimov's novels robots turn into better humans. In modern world we turn into the brainless machines from the novel "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley.

  4. It is possible, but not probable.  A country needs to have an asset (natural resource, human resource, etc.) in order to be successful.  With liberalism, the powers in charge try to exploit the natural resources for their own gain or thwart the efforts of the human resource.  Thus, socialism is a failure.

  5. No...greedy people don't like sharing. They are driven by desire to exploit others.

  6. I don't think this is possible.  Wealth is relative, the country with the most resources is most likely to be the most wealthy, and on down the chain.  Their will be a least-wealthy country, and it probably won't be comparable to the most wealthy country in terms of capabilities.

To each his own, that is what capitalism is all about.  Capitalism doesn't need poor countries, it is not a prerequisite, it is a side effect of capitalist nations competing.

  7. Yes, if they were all ethical capitalists...in other words NO.

  8. I have wondered this many times.

The conclusion I come to is that they will all be at different stages of development and differing levels of wealth - so there will always be countries/peoples who are less wealthy and there will always be deals which might be win/win but don't succeed so somebody loses.

  9. No, not every species can be an apex predator either......

  10. Of course.

In fact we want those poor countries to become rich countries because then - they can afford to buy more of our stuff!  Capitalists make money by selling stuff to people - the more money those other people have, the more they will buy.

The idea that capitalists want other people to be poor requires a complete ignorance of economics.

  11. of course not

anyone who thinks they can must be dumb if they cant see the obvious

capitalist economies die if they dont grow

the earth is a finite resource

therefore its obvious to a blind man that you cannot have a world full of growing capitalist economies

  12. Sure.

    Why not?

If they have our creator's universal gifts of life with the fishing line ,hooks and sinkers vital for the survival of living human kind in time.

As time-traveller passing by in time.

Will know what they want out of life..

How often they need to fish in time.

Instead of going in circles with two empty hands wandering lost in the fields.with self lack of knowledge in time.

    What do you think

  13. Economics really IS a zero sum game. There's only so much oil to go around, not to mention everything else (copper, zinc, cobalt, iron, etc). If every country had the same consumption patterns as the United States, Western Europe, Japan, and Australia, there simply would not be enough resources to go around.

  14. Britain under Thatcher was an excellent example. Yes, capitalism thrived in the City for a VERY small elite but in the North they suffered for it with increased unemployment, redundancies and now we are all suffering with increased bills.

  15. Capitalism is the economic evolution of colonialism.  It seeks the lowest cost for raw materials and the lowest labor cost for manufacturing.  No. Under capitalism there can never be all rich countries.

It is fascist in that it uses military might when necessary to obtain what it feels it needs.  Country A has diamonds and country B wants them, lets have a "Boer War" to obtain them.  Country C wants a communications contract with country D that wants a national communications system, lets use the CIA to foment a "regime change"

  16. No. "Freedom" comes with capitalism. No self respecting free person in a capitalism will take $.05 for a day's work.

  17. I think so

  18. Realistically, every country in the world is already essentially capitalist to some degree, even Cuba & China.

Capitalism is not the problem, but greed is.  If we could eliminate the greed factor and if each country looked after its populace, ensuring minimum standards of living and employment for all, then we could have a good well balanced global society.

Sadly, there is too much greed so it's never going to happen.  I think it was the late great James Brown who said 'money is not the root of all evil, but a lack of money, is'.
