  1. The scoring is really frustrating sometimes, but I can't imagine an Olympics without gymnastics! In the end, all you can really do is just sit back and appreciate, without seriously taking into account the results. (well. try.) I think most of the athletes themselves in these events already know about these problems, and just participate for the whole experience of it all, and just to try their best. :D

  2. Diving and Gymnastic should stay they are enjoyable to watch and the judge have way of scoring them.  All the judges are from country that are not competing in the final.

Synchronized Swimming should be taking out in my books

  3. All judged sports should be banned, because of bias and likes. And, who actually cares about synchronised swimming, anyway?

  4. No. People, especially U.S. Americans, need to familiarize themselves a wee bit better with the scoring system and learn to accept that what they see in their casual glance isn't the whole picture. A lot of the hoohas are actually rooted in the fixed portion of the score, the points received for difficulty of attempted actions.

Good commentators will point that sort of thing out, so it's not like the information is unavailable to the general public.

  5. No, I think they should allow scoring to be done via computer.

  6. I don't believe those sports should be banned. These show art and grace in sports. But I have to agree that judging is very subjective. For these sports, I don't think we can take away the subjectivity in the judgments. It's like writing an essay or taking an oral exam in school. Or even a slam dunk contest. However, it can be lessened. They have to develop a scoring system that is less subjective. Perhaps create a checklist (en exhaustive and detailed one if need be), assign points to them, and have the judges just tick it off.

  7. No I think couch professionals should just stop whinging and let the professionals do their job

  8. That would rule out boxing which has always been there. I think we have to accept human error now and then in any sport, e.g. penalties in soccer. Funny I don't recall this talk when Greg Louganis dominated diving for U.S. ?
