all have clauses in their contracts..that if an offer comes in for them they can go....is there really any point a club trying to make a player stay if he wants to go, do you think there is any loyalty left anywhere or is it a thing of the past xx

  1. I think you should look at it in this way, football clubs are businesses, football players are smaller businesses, sole traders to be exact, each will protect potential revenue streams and act accordingly to perpetuate their money making capabilities..Their is no loyalty, look at when Barry Ferguson did a Cuellar and ended up back at Ibrox, tail firmly between legs..You only live once and you only play for a small period so obviously number one is always the biggest consideration.

  2. i think a lot of players have clauses in their contracts about an offer that comes in that triggers a transfer for them that does not bother me as much as the one that if a player stays for the length of his contract he gets a loyalty bonus is it not enough that some of them get paid big wages then pick up a bonus for doing what they get paid for

  3. Who'd be mad enough to sign a 3 year contract at Greyskul without a get out clause?? imagine 3 years of being 2nd best at most!! ..  and you didn't honestly expect Cueller to stay, did you?? .. gullible little foot soldier.

  4. BB it's more a thing of the past

it's getting worse, and the people a blame are agents who are doing deals away from club interests,to line they're own pockets

    Cuellar is one of many

a bet Murray and Bain did'nt know about cuellars agent

what was cuellars contract, without the clause

then you have your answer,as someone had to intigate that clause and that is were the agent comes in

    think on this?

your guaranteed european football (boo bers)

    you're not guaranteed football(aston villa)

    you decide whose to blame?

  5. From what I read it is common amongst the Spanish and Italian players but less so in the British game. I think we have to face up to the fact that both Rangers and Celtic have little to offer the better Players other than Europe every season and a chance to showcase their skills and secure a big contract. I honestly think McGregor will be next to go before the deadline and it looks like one bad result in Europe has destroyed Rangers season. I was hoping they would build on last years success and bring in a quality Player or two but it looks like we are back to the PLG era taking a chance on unknowns. We should really be investing in the team and not selling but it looks like those days are over.Next step is the Academy but I am not hearing or seeing anything knocking on the door other than Fleck who is still a couple of years away.

  6. No, there is no such thing as loyalty to a club anyone who thinks so is fooling themselves. There will come a time when the money runs dry and it will begin to reverse it cant go on like this forever look at Rangers it's began to dry up now

  7. Graveson and Balde are showing loyalty!

  8. dont hink mcgeady has one.foreign players,no interest in playing for the jersey

  9. An offer was made for McGeady and it was rejected though

  10. the debate is whether he had a clause or not. i thought last night he did but I think it's really unlikely and sadly for the likes of yourself bluebell, you are having the wool pulled over your eyes by murray etc. as for clauses in general, they are purely there for players and the clubs sometimes have their hands tied as this is the only way a player will sign a contract especially players from europe where clauses are common place. in my opinion, rangers should have known there was a risk of this happening and offered him a new contract with a higher clause if thats what he wanted. i know there seems to be debate that this was the case but cuellar is also quoted as saying he wanted a new contract and bain said no.

  11. i dont think Boruc has, if he did he would have went in the summer.

Lads like McGeady, Hutton and Liam Miller (remember him) dont have these clauses as they are homegrown, its just a case of their ability increasing so the big teams come sniffing.

Cuellar, Boumsong etc come to Scotland with a good level of footballing ability and know that somewhere along the line they will attract a good move so yes these clauses are a must.

Had Rangers won the UEFA Cup and not found themselves in such a S***e state at this time, the fans wouldnt have made such a huge thing about Cuellar going, it would have been accepted as was Boumsongs departure.

If the Gers fans really think a good player who was already being watched by big money clubs was going to stay where he was, with no european football for another season, then its really time to wake up.

The team sealed Cuellars move the other week when they were put out of Europe.

  12. Whether there was a clause or not is irrelevant, Murray wanted rid of him as he needed the money.

  13. it is very rarley these days to have players playing for jersy and that is a shame for the game there are to many players from other countries in all teams thier should be a law that teams have a wage limit and should be blooding the young talent in first team football

  14. Sometimes the only way to get or keep a player is to put these clauses into their contracts.

  15. If they were offered more money then they would go somewhere else.

  16. These contracts are not worth the paper they are written on. They could insert clause after clause in them and invoke article 175b of the transfer system handbook. It's all bunkum to try and appease the fans, it's funny how the money men will use these 'get out clauses' when a player is sold and the fans reaction will be rightly furious. Why not explain this to the fans when the contract is written up. That way they are better informed. Without fans there is no football and Sir David Murray had better remember that. Rangers have been sold a few dummies in the last few years but when they unearth a really genuine star, the least the fans should expect is to build upon him, not sell him  to the first team who matches the price tag.

Every player however has a selling price and no matter how many clauses which either party inserts in the contract, if a buying club wants any player, usually he goes. I say look  at the lad Hutton's situation, he REFUSED to go and yet still they sold him. He then came out and said it was the lure of the EPL that he couldn't resist. More bunkum and the natives are getting restless because Cuellar may not be the last to go out the door to balance the books.

This should serve as a reminder to all clubs fans and I include Celtic because it could happen to us. Mind you our financial situation is fantastic as a direct result of prudent spending, Gravesen aside. Hahahaha!!!!

  17. Has broadfoot got a similar clause in his contract?

  18. Money dictates all aspects of transfer activity, it would surprise you what players get written in to their contracts, that's why i find the badge kissing bit nauseating. Even when a club has a contract with a player , they have to spend their time fending off the influence of agents. Their is no loyalty in football transfer transactions. its sad, but indicative of football today.

  19. Yeah they probably do, even boys like Robinho and Kaka have a minimum fee release clause in their contracts, ok Kaka's is something stupid like £100m but still, it's there.
