  1. It may not sound like it's an issue for a speech pathologist, but it is. I would go to a speech pathologist for an evaluation. If you can't find one you can go to ASHA.org to locate one.

  2. Well, there's people who are less intelligent than you are that are older than you. You're certainly not up to standards for your age though... seek tutoring.

  3. I'm just a bit older than you and I can hardly read or write in cursive. I have dyslexia, which simply means I have difficulty with in reading and writing, especially in strange fonts and cursive writing. Some things in school are difficult for me, but I have talents in other areas. Maybe you have dyslexia also. If so, you might just need to have a little extra tutoring for a little while, depending on how much difficulty you have. Or maybe it's not so bad.

If you have other trouble with reading and writing, you can go talk to a guidance counselor at your school. Or, you can research dyslexia to see if it seems like the way you are. There are even some books and websites that have suggestions for overcoming dyslexia if you have it.

  4. You could have either dyslexia (reading disability) or a visual processing disorder (your brain has trouble sorting out what you see).  You might even have dyscalculia (math learning disability).

And don't worry, I sometimes have trouble reading analog clocks (clocks with hands). ;-)

  5. Well for a start i dnt even knw what cursive means and i dont think im dumb. nobody is perfect. some ppl need more help than others in certain things So what. be proud of who u r and ask for help. dnt be so dwn on yourself xxxxxx

  6. Tell someone so you can get helped. You're not dumb.

  7. well think about it this way...would you rather two or three people who help you see these things about you and help you so you can change or would you rather go through your whole life with many many people seeing these things about you and struggling your whole life with them?

I don't see how your parents can't alredy know this about you.

  8. Yeah, I think you're dumb. You should go get help immediately.

Hey Holster, what's the difference between stupid and dumb? you clearly just called her dumb, but used the word stupid instead.

  9. Dumb people don't ask questions. What you probably have is a visual motor integration deficit, which has nothing whatever to do with your brain and everything to do with how your brain is wired. Think of a lamp that has a frayed cord. Sometimes it blinks on and off. There isn't anything wrong with the bulb, it is just what leads up to it.

Since you may have other learning disabilities, you might want to go to your school counselor and share your academic difficulties. Tell her that you would like to be tested for learning disabilities. Your parents will have to make a formal request, but you can get the process started.

I am going to provide you with a list of learning disabilities and you can see if any of them sound like the problems you are having. Please try to remember that learning disabilities are usually found in people with normal intelligence.

A learning disability is a neurological disorder. The person's brain is wired differently and though he or she may be as smart as anyone else, they have trouble with reading, writing, organizing and remembering.  Some of the recognized learning disabilities that affect reading (and other things) are deficits in the following:

Auditory Sequencing - Confusion with number sequences, lists or lists of directions. Hearing ninety-four instead of forty-nine.

Auditory Memory - Difficulty remembering what was heard, difficulty remembering important items from a lecture. Spells poorly.

Visual Sequencing - Problems in using a separate answer sheet. Loses place easily. Problems with reading. Reversing or misreading numbers of letters. Reading words incorrectly. Difficulty with equations.

Visual Memory - Difficulty remembering what was seen. Reading comprehension. Difficulty with math equations. Poor recall of information.

Dysgraphia - Inability to form letters correctly. students cannot read their own writing.

Visual Motor Integration - Mechanical problems in test taking. Difficulty copying from board or book. Spaces poorly. Poor written work. Unorganized.

Non-verbal learning disability is a neurological disorder which originates in the right hemisphere of the brain, causing problems with visual-spatial perception, intuitive, organizational, evaluative and holistic processing functions.

Auditory Figure Ground - Trouble hearing sounds over background noises.

Visual Figure Ground - Trouble seeing an image within competing background. Picking one line of print from another while reading.

Visual Discrimination - Seeing the difference between two similar objects

Spatial Orientation - Loses materials. Late to class. Difficulty with oral reading. Unorganized homework. Difficulty judging time.

Expressive Language - Difficulty expressing themselves. Difficulty with accessing stored information and turning it into language.

Receptive Language - Appears to be "not listening". Does not respond promptly to cues. Does not understand long sentences or 3 step directions.

And there you have it. You are not alone in the world. I teach very smart learning disabled children every single day.

  10. You might very well have a learning disability.  What comes to mind is dyslexia, but I don't know enough about it to be sure.  Something in your brain isn't picking up what your eyes are seeing or is scrambling it.  If you needed glasses to read you would get them I am sure, or at least contacts.  Well,  you need something more than what you have to be able to read more easily.  It is not easy to ask for help, but it is easier than continuing to struggle ALL your life because you didn't try to do the best you could, even if that meant getting help now.

  11. you are stupid if you dont ask for help

  12. No, you are not dumb, you just need a little extra help.  You can learn cursive very quickly if you set your mind to it.  And you can learn to read and tell time also.  Can you count by fives?  If you can then telling time will be easy.

Just ask for the help you need, its never too late to learn as long as you don't give up.

  13. No, your not dumb.

You might have a learning disability, talk to your guidance councillor at school, your mom, or close friend, get the help you need and deserve.

  14. Hello, :)

I'm also 15 and I just want to say obviously you aren't too dumb because u seem to spell pretty well and you came to the internet to find some answers so...I'm not sure why you think you're dumb you just have a creative mind.

  15. i understand i was going threw a familiar case as myself being learning disable. i think you should just approach who's ever going to tutor or help you and explain your illness and that you feel that they will think your dumb explain that to them have a nice talk.  but remember is not your fault things are the way it is for a reason am sure you have other unique strengths that others will admire and wish they had. i wish the best of luck to you take it easy.

  16. no your not.  And very intelligant for taking the first stem to find out more and to get help.  But wow I am the same way as you but Im 16.  and not only have trouble reading, have much more difficulty.  I would love to be able to get to know your situation a little better so I can undertand and hlep you.  I am very knowledgeable in this area.

    email. sarahsourapple@yahoo.com

  17. my dear friend, you might be "Dislegsic"

don't worry about it! Vivaldi, Napeleon and Einstein were all dislegsics... i would like to know your situation in detail

Dislegsics are not people who are dump, they are people that they brain works in other way. do you have problem reading a book. I have a friend that has problem with reading books, because he says the words are going into 3D pictures and i just lose the line i read. If you are Dislecsic and left-hand, you got a high chance to be a genius. if you wanted to know more, then pm me in yahoo! messenger

  18. get help sweetie.  don't be afraid to ask because if you don't

ask now, things will only get worse and i'm sure you don't want that.

  19. Not dumb -- you have enough sense in you to ask for help.  Learning certain things may not come easy or quick for you, so you're a bit slow, but you'll just have to spend more time learning and practicing.

It also helps if you have a good teacher, counselor or mentor who understands your issues and knows how to guide you along or point you in the right direction.

  20. Do not listen to Bill S Preston Esquire. I had a LD

and the education system gave up on me.  He has no right saying you're dumb. ignore him.

  21. No, not dumb. But quite possible dyslexic.

    I would read http://www.dyslexia.com/library/symptoms...

if you see yourself in that list, I would talk to your school counselor or a resource teacher/learning strategist. They can help you out.

Don't be embarrassed. They won't think your dumb. They will, however offer you much support. Email me if you want, I'm dyslexic too.

  22. u most likly hvae a learning disability. u should get help. plus: someone will find out sooner or later

  23. Judging by the way you just asked your question...?

    It's questionable.

Seriously ~ there really is no such thing as a dumb person as there is no such thing as a dumb question.  What you probably might need is to undergo an evaluation for a learning disability that will place in an special ed accommodation program for DSPS students.  Good Luck.

  24. I think your need to improve your skills is obvious to you, which is why you are posting. People who tutor or train people your age aren't going to judge you. I am impressed that you want help.

    That makes you smart.

Go get the help you need. It'll only get embarrassing as you get older.
