Do you think animals/insects can sense natural disasters?

We had an earthquake this morning that shook our whole region.....last night several people reported that huge numbers of ants had come out of the ground and were moving in swarms. As far as I have heard none of them were trying to get into houses or other areas, just moving in place. We had a large swarm of ants in our backyard that covered the ground in an area of about 4 square feet. I have heard similar accounts from coworkers, friends, etc. What do you think about occurances like this? Coincidence or sixth sense?

animals have a sixth sense. i have birds and when a storm comes that has tornado activity in it they get really quiet. after the storm blows over they come a live again.
