  1. It feels embarassing to be tapped out for months on end and feel like you're getting nowhere, but BJJ takes time, and lots of it, anyone can learn though, its just something you have to stick to.

  2. anyone can get better with training and dedication... just give it a blast and see what happens... you will get tapped out a lot at first but that happened to me and i have 15 years experience before starting bjj

  3. i never took any martial art

well...i dont consider boxing a martial art

    i also never took wrestling

so i had no real ground game when i started learning MMA

my BJJ skills are unbelievable, i actually got told by a couple people who have had some fights that i should consider fighting in an amtuer match or two soon and i have about 4 months MMA training 5 times a week for about n hour and 1/2

they said i just need little better cardio

  4. You don't need prior experience or any amount of skill to learn any decent martial art. I say decent because there are a lot of imitation schools out there claiming to teach something that teach absolute garbage. "Today we'll work on ground-fighting. Uke, get on the ground. Tori, don't get tossed off. Ready? Go."

Look, the stuff you see on TV isn't representative of real fighting or real life. Any decent fighter knows that your ultimate goal should be to go home at the end of the day. It's not about winning, its about surviving. In competitions, you have limited space, limited options, so a lot of fights end up on the ground. If you're looking to do competitions, BJJ is great on it's own. If not, you need more well-rounded abilities. [Before you all get it in your head that I'm anti BJJ, grow up: I think it's fantastic, but I'm anti-competition]. You can't run away if you're on the ground, so you need to train ground game, standing, and recognizing escape.
