The matter was supposed to be resolved last month but they postponed the decision till after the world cup. Argentina can compete with the world's best. They beat England in twickengham last time they played and Ireland twice in a row. They dont have any international tournament because there is no competition in america, and in order to get better participating in the tri-nations would be a must. jst wanted to know what the rest of the world thought.

  1. If that were to happen then another good question is why isn't Tonga, Western Samoa and Fiji included as well and then there is Namibia and Zimbabwe who would also want to be included.

I think they have wanted a franchise to be included in the Super 14 for some time but then so have Namibia and Zimbabwe.

I know they have a tournament of there own with the smaller nations but I think they might have problems facing three of the really stronger teams in World Rugby on a regular basis.

If Argentina and Samoa played one year then Tonga and Fiji the next year and go in cycles that might be more productive for everyone.  No one gets left out and it would increase the skill levels and knowledge base of the smaller teams.  Then yes, hold it in cycles.  On a regular basis it might be a little tough.

  2. simple put YES and a Fijian, Samoan and Tongan sides too ah why not A teams from PNG too

  3. That's a question worth asking. Another one is 'how come they've not been included already?'

Yes, they have the ability to contest the tri-nations on current form, having one of the best scrums in the business. And yes, their inclusion would be good for the other three nations, as well as for the Pumas themselves.

The only reason I can think of that may be impeding their progress is the lack of an organised internal competition, such as a provincial or top-level club competition. Inclusion in what is now the Super 14 comp by two or more teams from Argentina might also be an aid for them in the long run by inducing their top players to play at home rather than chasing the big bucks in France, as they do now.

Look at what's happened to Italy's game since they have been part of the 6-nations. If Argentina can improve at the same rate by playing a couple of years in what we now call the tri-nations imagine how much their game could improve.

  4. yes, but only after South Africa withdraws from the super 14

  5. Originally I was going to say NO because the Quad Nations tournament doesn't sound quite as good ! But yeh it would be interesting, bring them on ! Aussie Ausie Aussie !

  6. That is truly not a bad idea. The southern dominance of world rugby is no doubt. Having the only other worthy southern team in the tri-nations would be advantageous to all teams involved. Argentina might also be a surprise package in the world cup. It would be a good idea to include them in the tri-nations. This competition is also becomming a little boring as each of the 3 countries seem to dominate at home, while New Zealand is better away. Australia seem to be lucky where they win against 14 players. But yeah, give Argentina a chance.

  7. The only reson I'd say no is because they'd get better and stronger than they are now and the divide between north/south would increase.

"why isn't Tonga, Western Samoa and Fiji included as well and then there is Namibia and Zimbabwe who would also want to be included"

    Because they aren't good enough.

  8. It's a yes from me..............

(Same question has been asked many times on here already)

  9. Yes. They are a competitive side and should be given the chance to improve
