By 'bad parents' i mean parents who do not teach there kids right from wrong and let them do what they want even when it comes to causing others harm, swearing, and destroying public and other peoples propperty, amoungst other things.

What is your oppinion? Should these people be left to bring up troublesome kids who go on to lead troubled adult lives? Or should the government or another authority step in to put these 'looser' parents in place before its too late for these poor kids?

  1. yes they should

  2. Who's to say which are the bad parents?

How do we know the things that are taught in every parenting class is the right way to raise children?

    Who pays for the classes?

  3. Yes, the one that abuse or spank their kids!

  4. I agree I think that parenting classes would help parents have more control and more discipline when it comes to their kids.

  5. I think it should be a required class in high school.

It is required in many situations when their has been proven abuse of a child

  6. The mother should be forced to attend parenting classes, but it won't happen.

It sounds like they are just trashy parents with no morals or respect for anyone or anything, even themselves.  In my experiences, it is almost impossible to get through to someone like that.  And unfortunately, their offspring grow up to be just like their parents.

If CPS got involved with every family that lets their kids run around acting disrespectful, CPS would never get anything done as far as kids who are seriously abused and neglected.

The mother is guilty of having bad taste as far as her parenting skills, but I didn't see any evidence of having to call CPS or some other agency to intervene.

There are MANY parents/mothers in my neighborhood who obviously don't give a c**p what their kids do, but do I call CPS because of it?  No.  I feel your frustration, but I don't think the mother would be forced to attend parenting classes based on what you've told us.

  7. you are required to get a license  to cut hair , why not to become a parent ?

  9. How do you define "right from wrong" and doing "whatever they want"?

Different people have different ideas of right and wrong; we don't make our kindergarten kids go to behavior classes just because they lied about something, do we?

How do you define "loser parents"?

Any person could be considered a "loser" if they don't do what's expected of their age or personality group. It's like you're back in middle or high school. If you don't dress like this person or buy clothes from this place, you're a "loser". So the parents who consider themselves "good parents" are discriminating against those who don't use the same parenting methods as they do. If you ask me, that's sort of pathetic. Now I feel really mature...not that I wasn't, but you know what I mean. I'm a young teenager, so I don't know whether I should answer this question, but so far I think I'm presenting my opinion (just one 'P') pretty well.

    How do you define "troublesome"?

Any child can be troublesome, no matter what their parents were like and how they brought up their kids. Likewise, any child can be good if their parents weren't parenting them to the standards set by others.

And finally...the government is already trying to run our lives. Let the people decide how they want to parent their kids.

So, that's the opinion of a mature 13 year old who's seen a lot. What do you think?

EDIT: Littering is accepted by a lot of people as a fact of life. You're going to blame this on bad parenting? Curse or cuss words are used by many people to express their feelings. You're going to blame the kids picking up on what their parents are saying on bad parenting? And it's possible that they didn't see the child kicking the football at the window, isn't it? I don't pay attention to a lot of people, including my sisters, and what they're doing. Perhaps the parent was preoccupied? You're blaming the child's bad choices on the parents, which is really wrong.
