  1. One of the best!

Retired 9-1-1 Police and Fire Dispatcher

  2. no not really, its not worth the pay and the risk of dying, you won't become rich working any government job

  3. yea, I think they have decent pay.  I hope you'd be a good cop though and not a crooked one.

  4. no

  5. yes, but a short life expectancy

  6. It's long days, all kinds of weather. Having to chase idiots on foot thru bushes and over fences. After catching them and wrestling them to the ground you have to try and cuff them. Paper work, paper work, paper work. Did I mention PAPER WORK! Watch the TV program COPS. I think it a great show but it give you an idea of what they go thru. You didn't say how old you are, but if you are over 18 you can do a "ride along".

  7. it s a good job finacial wise and puttting food on the table

as far as safety wise not such a good choice

    think about you family

    [♥]

  8. Yes it can be but it can also be very dangerous.

  9. Excellent choice - Make sure you join a good force.

  10. Yes!

  11. Yes.  It's an honorable field and depending on the city, it can pay well.  The Austin (Texas) Police Department starts its first year officers off in the mid to high $40s, after a year on the force, pay jumps up to low $50s.

It's a dangerous field and the job requires a lot of hours.  As a rookie cop, you can pretty much bet you'll be working graveyard shifts until you move up in rank.

    Good luck.

  12. as a former police officer, it depends on where your heart is

  13. Don't listen to the people who hate the police. The only police I do not like are the dirty one's or the down right *** hole cops. We need police. We can see how countries are when their police sucks (Iraq). It is one of those situations where people don't like them until they need them. I think you should go for it if it is something you really want to do and you think you'd be a good cop.

  14. Any job with the government is a great career opportunity. They offer you many more benefits than almost any other job and they offer the most steady promotion form and also a steady paycheck. The pay may not be completely amazing, but it will keep you in good shape, get you connections with the right people, insure your family and yourself, and give you guidelines on which to follow to become promoted.

A cop is an amazing career opportunity.

  15. Yeah of course it is.

Lots of opportunities for promotion and so many different positions within the force.

I should think that you would have to care about people in your community, have good social skills and also be brave enough to take risks.

    Good pension too

You will need to be fit too and have good driving skills oh the list goes on.

Not many people will think good things when they hear the word 'police'

but it's a respectable job like joining the army or being a nurse/doctor/lawyer etc.

  16. It kind of depends on what kind of person you are. If you only want to become a policeman for the money, then, it's pretty good, but you'll have to take a risk with criminals. If you like to take risks and stop criminals, then it's perfect.

Keep in mind though, becoming a policeman is a lot of hard work. You cannot give up half-way through. If you're not sure if you can do it, try doing some research on being a policeman.

If you think you have what it takes to become a policeman and you have the attitude, the time, the courage, then go for it.

  17. is unyil u get capped

  18. yeah its what i want to do currently im at uni doing criminology then im going to apply to be a PCSO for experience first, decent money and it seems challenging

  19. Possibly - how much of a c**t are you?

  20. It is a good job and helps the country but it can also be very dangerous.  It is a perfect job if you want to help people and don't mind taking a little risk.

  21. well it depends what you major in, lets say you major in enginerring , in that case you should not be a officer , but if you major in criminal justice give it a shot

  22. its good as long as they can stand the scumbags they come across in a working day.The hardest part is the leering trash putting there fingers up to the police and taunting them knowing full well they cant retaliate because of the stupid laws made to protect the scum, What a country !
