My husband and I are planning a trip and it looks like we'd be leaving there on Easter Sunday. We are afraid the airports will be totally packed but then again maybe everyone will be busy celebrating the holiday. Any input?

  3. Rome is always packed as it is such a turistic place, moreover all the pilgrims will be gathering there for Easter, to see the Pope and everything. Having said that, Rome is such a nice city and Romans are so friendly and welcoming that it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

  4. This city itself should be busy, but the airport should be empty.  Leaving the city doesn't seem it would be a problem once you were on route to the airport (and beyond the Vatican).

If you take the Metro to the airport, that could be a nightmare.  There are car services though (I believe they're about 50 euros from central Rome) that may be much easier.

Would be also good to inform yourself of possible parades or processions that occur (perhaps leading to the Vatican).  THAT could be problematic.

  5. I've been there on Easter Sunday...It will be packed!
