  1. hmm, good question. i work for a union company and although there are many great benefits because they can protect you from wrongful termination, i see just as many downfalls.

    we had an employee who failed a drug test (could be because he showed up to work high and we sent him for one to prove it) and they backed him. we also have guys threaten us on jobs, telling us that they'll call the union and we're going down and all this because we had to lay them off because they were dangerous on the site. we have a lot of guys that are union backed that are not qualified for the jobs but the union pushed them out anyways. and i work for an electrical construction company so if they're dangerous on the site or unqualified, they can literally kill someone.


  2. As is usual in life there are not perfect yes or no answers. It is just relative to the situation, and having a middle path always help. Evolution says t*t for Tat strategy is the best - so if the employer folks are unionized, workers should be the same, and the vice versa.
