Do you think better looking people are treated better than ugly people?

I was sorta chubby when i was younger.. with acne.. and i just wasnt very attractive lol. Though as I got a bit older I guess I got better looking than I used to be (I'm not conceited and i'm not saying I'm gorgeous or something, just saying I look better than before) cuz I started getting compliments and having guys hit on me and people seemed to treat me a bit better.

Is it just me or are people treated better when they aren't ugly? Is this fair? What do you think?

  1. I agree with you, but also have to wonder how much is also influenced by other things as well?  Usually "good looking" people also have self confidence and are extroverted.  Would this alone be enough to gain that extra respect?  I must add that the way they were treated probably contributed to their personality traits (the self confidence, etc) and thus leading to the endless circle.  Where does it begin?  I think it all feeds off itself.

  2. Unfortunately, yes, they are.

  3. Yes.  News anchors even did a show on this. A  lady wore a fat suit and had acne on her face. She was not treated with respect. Then they video taped her as she normally is ( not heavy and no acne) and men were opening doors and going out of their way to be nice to her.

It has always been this way and always will. Even in the animal kingdom.

  4. It depends.  I wasn't a hit when I was younger either and because of that I didn't treat good looking people very well and still don't, especially when they are obviously vain.

But it isn't fair either way (when the person is attractive or not).

  5. yeah, usually that's the case, but life's never always fair... that's what i learn.

  6. What is ugly?  I lost alot of weight and feel great.  I know how you feel and understand.

  7. Yeah.. I mean I notice it with girls at school.. I mean the pretty ones are always with there pretty friends. The ugly girls are like never popular.. I mean seriously it's really not fair especially for girls..

  8. Oh yeah, attractive people do have it easier in my social respects.  Of course it isn't fair.  But what can ya do?

And it only seems to make the biggest difference with complete strangers who have only looks to go by.    Our first impression is what we see so the more we like what we see, the more positive our response to it will be.
